It started with the aim of joining the two existing buildings. The two buildings, the main building and the new building, were each designed by different American architects, and they had many difference in architectural aspects. The following three points were set as the main points of design. A circulation plan that solves the level difference between the ground level and each floor. A space of active communication, and an interpretation of the relationship between the two buildings (elevation plan). The building first began based on the connection of the circulation of upper floors (third and fourth floors) but after many discussions, the first and second floors as well as the rooftop floor were also made to be connected. In addition, 8 classrooms and an open space (reception room), which the building was lacking, were also added.

The most important process was to plan the building to have a slope gradient that will allow wheelchairs to move to and from the two buildings that have different ground levels and floor heights. On the ground floors of both the main building and the new building, piloti structures were applied to minimize situations where the schoolyard and the front yard become severed. The 'V' pillar was to avoid disturbing the position and shape of the main building's piloti pillars as well as the existing entrance's circulation.

The view of the nude elevator arranged to the front faces the prospect axis of the south apartment complex, making it the place where one can see the farthest in the campus. When one gets out of the elevator, they view the schoolyard and mountain to the other side of the corridor. The corridor is a small place of communication.

An extreme amount of color studies was gone through for the elevation plan. The match of the colors was compared and checked, and a direction of having the building be subordinated to the new building was set. Finishing the vertical element of the elevator, which has its shape revealed, with the same exposed concrete as the staircase of the new building, and the rest with metal finish and glass was effective. The school's staff and officials commented that it seems like a building that was always there rather than an extension.

중앙기독학교 이음관

기존 두 동 건물을 연결하기 위한 목적으로 시작되었다. 본관과 신관 두 건물은 각각 서로 다른 미국 건축가가 설계했는데, 건축적인 측면에서 많은 부분에서 차이가 있었다. 설계 주안점으로 다음과 같은 세 가지를 정했다. 지면 레벨과 각층의 레벨차이를 해결한 동선계획, 소통이 활발한 공간, 두 건물의 관계 해석(입면 계획), 상층(3·4층)부의 동선연결을 기본으로 시작했지만 여러 논의 과정을 통해 1층과 2층뿐만 아니라 옥상층도 연결되도록 했다. 또한 그 동안 부족했던 교실 8실과 개방적인 공간(사랑방)도 추가되었다.

서로 다른 지면레벨과 층고로 된 두 동을 휠체어가 다닐 수 있는 경사구배 이내로 계획하는 것이 가장 중요한 과정이었다. 지상층은 운동장과 전면 마당을 단절하게 되는 상황을 최소화하기 위해 본관 신관 모두에 필로티를 적용했다. 'V' 기둥은 본관 필로티 기둥의 위치와 형태, 기존 출입문 동선을 방해하지 않기 위한 것이다.

전면에 배치한 누드엘리베이터의 조망은 남측 아파트 단지 통경축을 향하고 있어 교내에서 가장 멀리 볼 수 있는 곳이된다. 엘리베이터에서 내리면 복도 반대편으로 운동장과 뒷산을 조망한다. 복도는 작은 소통의 장이다.

입면 계획은 매우 많은 컬러 스터디를 했다. 색의 어울림은 일일이 비교 확인하면서 신관에 종속되는 방향으로 잡았다. 형태가 드러나는 엘리베이터 수직요소를 신관 계단실과 동일한 노출콘크리트로 하고 나머지는 금속마감재와 유리로 결정한 것이 주효했다. 학교 관계자들은 증축이 아니라 원래부터 있던 건물 같다는 평을 했다.
