It is a neighborhood housing in Manchon-dong, Suseong-gu. The first floor combines a dessert cafe, a wildflower garden and a small water space.

The exterior staircase becomes a device for an ‘architectural promenade’ that connects the rooftop, where there is another wildflower garden. The third floor, which is connected through the second floor as well as the interior staircase+bridge, is a detached house. A vertical space expansion can be experienced, centering on the living room, which has a high ceiling height. All architectural elements were aimed to be expressed as concise as possible, with slim details. The unique properties implied in the materials such as exposed coated plywood, concrete bricks and blocks, high density compressed wood panels, low iron glass, etc., were suitably applied to the building.

In order to satisfy the somewhat limited land area and the minimum garden scale demanded by the client, the upper floor(house) was formed as a cantilevered plane, and was morphologically expressed as a floating white modern volume box. The L-shaped building layout, which fits the shape of the site, is a form encircling the site, allowing the garden to be seen from the main spaces of the interior space. Furthermore, due to the plan composition with obtuse angles, several vanishing points visually coexist in the interior space. The three light wells(skylights) with different shapes and sizes installed on the staircase ceiling cast a soft milky light on the walls and color the entrance space with bright tones.

마노

마노는 최근에 완공된 수성구 만촌동 소재 상가주택이다. 1층은 디저트 카페와 야생화정원, 작은 수공간이 접목되어 있다.

외부계단은 또 다른 야생화정원이 있는 옥상(루프탑)을 연결하는 ‘건축적 산책’(Promenade)을 위한 장치가 된다. 2층과 실내 계단+브리지를 통해 연결되는 3층은 단독주택이다. 높은 천장고를 가진 거실을 중심으로 수직적인 공간확장을 경험할 수 있다. 모든 건축적 요소는 가능한 한 간결하고, 슬림한 디테일로 표현하고 싶었다. 코팅 합판 노출, 콘크리트 벽돌과 블록, 고밀도 압축 목재 패널, 저철분 유리 등 재료에 내포된 고유의 물성을 적절하게 응용하였다.

다소 제한적인 대지면적과 클라이언트가 요구한 최소한의 정원 규모를 충족시키기 위해 상층부(주택)는 캔틸레버형 평면으로 구성하였으며, 형태적으로는 부유하는 듯한 화이트 컬러의 모던한 볼륨박스로 표현하였다. 대지의 형상에 맞춘 ㄱ자 건물배치는 대지를 에워싸는 형태로, 내부공간의 주요 실에서 정원을 바라볼 수 있다. 또한, 둔각을 가진 평면구성으로 인하여 내부공간은 몇 개의 소점이 시각적으로 공존하게 되었다. 계단실 천장에 설치된 각기 다른 형태와 크기를 가진 세 개의 빛우물(천창)은 부드러운 우유빛을 벽면에 길게 드리우며 진입공간을 밝은 톤으로 채색한다.
