Step Garden House

Step Garden House receives warm sunlight throughout the entire space, despite being located in a densely populated residential area. Its innovative design incorporates a terraced structure that gracefully retreats towards the north to maximize sun exposure, suffusing the entire dwelling with warm, natural light and the entire house is used as a garden. When you enter the house, there are wooden decks arranged like a step hill, and this continues up to the rooftop. The first floor is a semi-basement, and the main entrance is on the second floor. When you pass through the approach, you will encounter a wooden deck on the first floor. The interior is planned as a skip floor, connecting the movement outside the house directly. The movement outside and inside the house are connected to each other. The sunlight that the entire house receives shines through the gaps in the interior and illuminates the lower floor. There are stairs and ladders everywhere, allowing free movement between the outside and inside. The wooden decks on each floor are connected to adjacent rooms and can be used as expanded spaces. Some of them become living rooms, dining rooms, workspaces, places to dry laundry, and places to grow vegetables. The wooden decks are all places to spend time in the same way as indoors, providing a feeling of infinite vastness beyond the actual area. It becomes both a garden and a living space.

스텝 가든 하우스는 밀집된 주택가에 자리 잡고 있음에도 불구하고 집 전체 공간에 햇볕이 따스하게 스며드는 집이다. 집은 최대한의 햇빛을 받기 위하여 점차 북쪽으로 후퇴하는 계단식 형태이며, 집 전체를 정원처럼 사용한다. 집으로 들어서면 나무데크가 있는 정원이 계단식 언덕처럼 높이마다 마련되어 있으며, 이는 옥상까지 이어진다. 1층은 반지하이고, 주 출입구는 2층에 있다. 접근로를 통과하면 이미 1층 위의 나무데크를 만난다. 내부는 스킵 플로어로 계획되어, 집 외부의 움직임을 그대로 연결한다. 집 밖에서의 움직임과 내부에서의 움직임이 서로 연결된 것이다. 집 전체가 받는 햇빛은 실내의 틈새를 뚫고 아래층으로 비춘다. 곳곳에 계단과 사다리가 있어 외부와 내부를 자유롭게 오갈 수 있다. 각 층의 나무데크는 인접하고 있는 방과 연결되어 확장된 공간으로 사용할 수 있도록 한다. 그중 일부는 거실, 식당, 작업장, 빨래를 말리는 장소, 채소를 재배하는 장소가 된다. 나무데크는 모두 실내와 같은 방식으로 시간을 보내는 곳으로 실제 면적을 넘어서는 무한한 광활함을 느낄 수 있다. 전부가 정원이면서, 거주 공간이 되는 것이다.
