The house is situated at a site that stretches from north to south, on top of a slightly inclined land around a secluded rural farmland. It is surrounded by hills, an unrefined streamlet flows along the side of the site, and the view is open to the north. Therefore, the basic arrangement of the house consisted of the northwest side of the house being closed in response to the northwest wind in winter, while the southeast side was open to receive as much sunlight as possible. The overall composition was planned to be able to commune with nature with a concise and constrained abstract language, rather than a flashy design, to suit the atmosphere of the owner.

The spatial composition of the house has a form that seems like L-shaped languages overlap with each other and embrace the space and garden. The flow of the circulation is coordinated through the gaps of the various layers created due to the three-dimensional combination. The trivial landscape that is faced between those gaps provokes curiosity, even in the repetitive daily living space. As nature squeezes in between the small crevices and gaps, a landscape that changes with time is contained in a familiar frame, rather than the tight and stuffy interior space. In order to overcome the monotony of the interior space, the direction of the residents’ movement and gaze, as well as the surrounding scenery were made to be intertwined through the walls and windows. The hallway that appears when entering the front door is a space that resembles a hub, where all circulations of the interior are connected. Through the scenery outside the window located at the end of the circulation that is faced as one ascends and descends the house, family members capture individual sensibility and experiences of the place and times that change with each season.

The furniture in the hallway in front of the front door, as well as the furniture in the kitchen and living room that is visible at a glance a few steps down are built-in, and a natural texture was exposed by using the grain of the solid wood just as it is. Grooves were made on the wooden boards instead of using iron handles or doorknobs to induce a visual sense of unity on the wall. Interior spaces that are surrounded by opaque and smooth two-dimensional planes show a lifeless and mechanical spatial beauty and tend to become obsolete over time. On the other hand, the natural texture of wood grains provoke a kind of visual movement or vitality to the spatial form. The visual effect of wood grains brings a comfortableness of growing with nature even from the interior. The bedroom was organized like a nest of a happy and harmonious family. Rather than placing independent yards for each room, a space where the south-facing garden can be accessed directly from the bedroom to allow the family to always be together was created. The level difference of the interior and exterior spaces were minimized to allow the rooms and the garden to form one space. Therefore, the spaces from the rooms, through the deck, to the yard were smoothly connected, and were allowed to be moved around in bare feet.
