A house to Inside

For decades the main living space of the client was an apartment. Above all, the architect wanted to protect the client’s privacy. It is a house that has a good view of the outside, is well lit, and it is closed like a castle so the inside cannot be seen from the outside. Thus, privacy is protected. The basic layout of the architecture takes into consideration the site and the earth, and is built according to the appearance of the earth. The site was divided into squares for a housing complex on tidal flats.

The building was planned in the form of a box following the form of the land in accordance with the building-to-land ratio, and the space was created by digging. Since the density of the space is considered more important than the splendor of forms, the nature of the space is explored. The interior is designed in such a way that the space gradually opens up. The architect planned a courtyard and an inside yard, thinking about sitting outside where the light came in. The courtyard and the inside yard are neutral spaces that give the impression of being both outside and inside at the same time. So, the material chosen was brick. Bricks are not only useful for protecting privacy, they are also unchanging over time. Spanish long bricks were used, partially stacked with open spaces between the bricks. Because of this, light and air enter the building while the bricks form a boundary with the outside. At night, light leaks through the bricks, warming the surroundings.

안으로 열린 집

수십 년 동안 건축주의 주 생활 공간은 아파트였다. 무엇보다 사생활을 보호받길 바랐다. 그래서 안에서는 밖의 조망이 잘 보이면서 채광이 잘 되는 집, 밖에서는 안이 잘 보이지 않는 프라이버시가 보장되는 집, 밖에서는 내부를 볼 수 없도록 성처럼 닫아서 프라이버시는 보호하되, 내부에서는 밖에 있는 공원까지도 시야가 닿을 수 있게 하려 했다. 건축의 기본배치는 장소와 땅을 중요하게 생각해서 대지의 생김대로 짓는 것을 선호한다. 대지는 갯벌을 정돈하여 조성한 주택단지 내에 정사각형 모양으로 분할되어 있었다.

정해진 건폐율에 맞춰 대지의 형태를 따라 건물을 박스 형태로 계획하고, 안으로 파고 들어가면서 공간을 만들었다. 형태의 화려함보다는 공간의 밀도를 중요하게 생각하기 때문에 공간의 본질에 대해 탐구했다. 공간이 점진적으로 열리는 방식으로 내부를 설계했는데, 특히 빛이 들어오는 곳에 앉아 밖의 풍경을 내다보는 것을 생각하며 내부에 중정과 마당을 계획했다. 중정과 마당은 중성적인 공간으로, 외부인 것 같지만 내부이고, 내부인 것 같지만 외부인 것 같은 느낌을 준다. 그래서 선택한 재료가 벽돌이다. 벽돌은 프라이버시 보호에도 유용할 뿐 아니라 오랜 시간이 지나도 변하지 않고 감성적으로도 좋다. 스페인산 긴 벽돌을 사용했는데, 부분적으로 영롱(비워)쌓기를 했다. 덕분에 외부와의 경계를 형성하면서도 빛과 바람은 내부까지 들어온다. 밤이 되면 벽돌 사이로 불빛이 새어 나와 주변을 따뜻하게 만든다.
