SANCHEONG C HOUSE

This house is for a married couple and guests. It is a house in the mountains planned by a client who has moved from Seoul. Because of the nature in the mountains, I approached the design of the building with a concept different from that of a house built in the city. The client’s request was to build a one-story building with easy maintenance, an indoor parking lot to avoid rain, and a secure house. Here is a brief description of the features of the house.

It is difficult to have open doors or windows because the occupants of a house in the mountains are concerned about intrusions by people or wild animals. In order to solve this problem, we designed a central courtyard at the center of the building, where windows and doors facing the courtyard can always be open. In addition, it is possible to provide ventilation and light in all the spaces throughout this place.

If only the windows or doors facing the courtyard are opened, safety may be secured but it can be stuffy. This problem was solved by planning a large window as a window type rather than a door type. In each space of the interior, it is possible to see not only the space on the opposite side but also the exterior through the space on the opposite side. In order to provide privacy on the road side, no window was installed on the road side, and a temporary wall was placed in front of the entrance door. This wall is used not only for blocking the view but also for lighting, support of canopy glass, and providing space for a small bench.

The indoor parking, which was designed to avoid rain, was planned to have a ceiling at the top to allow sunlight to come into the parking lot. The parking lot space is integrated with the design of the building. The living room, dining room, and kitchen spaces were made into one large multipurpose area. The finishing materials are birch plywood with ecofriendly ivory-green paint, and iron plates. The furniture was made using the interior finishing materials.

The biggest  problem with housing in the mountains or away from the city is maintenance. Since there is no city gas in this area, it is necessary to use an oil boiler or gas boiler, but they are dangerous. So. it was decided to minimize the maintenance costs by installing a new type of centralized air purification ventilation heat exchange system. The house could be seen even overseas through the use of a video phone.

건축주 부부와 손님을 위한 집이다. 서울에서 귀촌한 건축주가 산속에 있는 주택으로 이용하기 위하여 계획된 주택이다. 산속에 있는 특성상 도시에 짓는 주택과는 다른 콘셉트를 가지고 설계에 접근했다. 건축주의 요구는 1층 건물로 유지보수가 간편하고 비를 피하는 실내 주차장이 있으며, 방범으로 안전한 집을 만드는 것이었다. 이 주택에 대한 사항을 간단하게 나열해보면 다음과 같다.

산속에 있는 집은 산짐승 등의 침입이 우려되기 때문에, 문과 창문을 열고 지내기 힘들다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해, 건물 중앙에 중정을 설계해서 중정 쪽으로 창문과 문을 언제나 열 수 있도록 했다. 또한, 중정을 통해 모든 공간의 환기와 채광을 할 수 있다. 모든 창문과 문이 중정 쪽 공간으로만 열린다면 안전하지만 답답할 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 큰 창이 있는 남측 창은 창무 형식으로 계획했다.

내부 각각의 공간에서 중정을 통해 건너편의 공간뿐 아니라, 건너편의 공간을 통해 밖의 모습을 보는 것도 가능하다. 도로 측에서의 프라이버시 보호를 위하여 도로 측에는 창문을 만들지 않았고, 출입문 앞에는 가벽을 만들었다. 이 가벽은 단순히 시선을 차단하는 목적뿐 아니라 조명장치, 캐노피 유리의 지지, 작은 벤치로 활용된다. 비를 피할 수 있도록 디자인된 주차장은 상부에 천창을 만들어서 빛이 주차장의 안까지 들어오도록 계획했다.

주차장 공간이 건물과 일체화되어 건물의 디자인과 어우러지고 있다. 거실 및 식당, 주방 공간은 다목적 사용이 가능하도록 하나의 큰 간으로 만들었다. 마감재는 자작나무 합판과 아이보리색의 친환경 도장, 철판으로 디자인했다. 가구도 실내 마감 재료 그대로 제작되었다. 산속이면서 도심과 떨어진 주택의 가장 큰 문제는 유지관리다. 도시가스가 없는 지역으로 기름보일러나 가스보일러를 사용해야 하지만 위험하기 때문에 새로운 방식의 냉난방 시설을 설치하기로 결정했다. 유지관리비를 최소화를 위해 중앙집중식 공기정화환기 열교환시스템을 설치했다. 이 시스템은 외국에서도 집의 상황을 확인하거나 방문자와 화상 인터폰을 할 수 있다.
