Walls Restaurant

Located in Songdo, Incheon, the restaurant is located in one of the low-rise shopping malls of the residential and commercial complex. Most of the stores in the residential and commercial complex are in the form of narrow "boxes" even though their sizes vary slightly. The obligation to stand out as a commercial space is like a game that you have to win as a designer. And winning or losing depends on how you fill the box. This project consists of several walls. The materials for these walls are different for each wall. Some are made of stainless steel, others of marble or wood. These walls don't divide the space perfectly. Each section, divided by a lower wall than the conventional box, has a slightly different design of furniture and walls of different materials It's creating a different atmosphere. Walls lower than traditional spaces also maximize one space. To say 'look broad' is not an assessment of scale, it's a sign of favor. Visitors don't go inside and look at the rooms I feel one large space made up of a group of low walls. The 'community' on this wall is everything that makes up this project.

인천 송도에 위치한 이 레스토랑은 주상 복합 건물의 저층 상가들 중 하나에 위치하고 있습니다. 주상복합의 점포들은 크기는 조금씩 달라도 대부분 좁은 ‘상자’ 형태입니다. 상업 공간으로서 사람들의 눈에 띄어야 한다는 의무는 디자이너로서 무조건 승리해야만 하는 게임과도 같습니다. 그리고 승패는 상자 안을 어떻게 채우느냐에 따라 결정됩니다. 이 프로젝트는 몇 개의 벽으로 구성되어 있습니다. 이 벽들의 재료는 각각의 벽마다 다릅니다. 어떤 것은 스테인레스 스틸로, 또 다른 것은 대리석으로 혹은 목재로 구성되어 있습니다. 이 벽들은 공간을 완벽하게 나누지 않습니다. 기존 ‘상자’보다 낮은 벽으로 나누어진 각각의 구역들은 조금씩 다르게 디자인 된 가구들과 다른 재료의 벽들로 구역마다 다른 분위기를 만들어내고 있습니다. 또한 기존 공간보다 낮은 벽들은 하나의 공간을 최대화하기도 합니다. ‘넓어 보인다’라고 말하는 것은 규모에 대한 평가가 아니라, 호감의 표시입니다. 방문객들은 내부에 들어서면서 방들을 보는 것이 아니라, 낮은 벽의 무리로 이루어진 하나의 넓은 공간을 느낍니다. 이 벽의 ‘공동체’는 이 프로젝트를 구성하는 모든 것입니다.
