TEA.ELTZ BUILDING(ONGOING)

TEAELTZ House is situated in a distinguished scenic spot within Jinhae, which is famous for being a cherry blossom attraction spot, where one can see the continuous cherry blossom paths and cherry blossoms in full bloom that continue to the top of the mountain. Around the site, there are many townhouses that connect to the surrounding environment through exterior terraces or stairs. The exterior wall materials are mostly brick-like tiles. The main material of the client’s existing cafe "TEAELTZ" was also bricks, and the gable roof of the glass house that faces the courtyard was distinctive, so the relocation of "TEAELTZ" was determined to follow these factors.

The shape of the site looked like each image was dropped in large pieces and three of its sides were facing the road. The three sides that face the road were similar in length, so three gable roof forms were placed in different directions and heights according to the shape of the site. At first, each gable roof form had its function such as the front entrance, staircase hall, glass house for plant cultivation, or cafe seats, but by reviewing the internal circulation or spatial experience, the theme became breaking functions or boundaries that were set. As a collection of gable roof forms from the outside, we sought to procure the circularity and depth of this space, thinking about how freely the boundaries can be crossed (circularity), how many gable roof forms are seen at once, or if the interior can be seen (depth) from the inside.

Due to the stairs that connect as one like the deceptions of "M.C. Escher(Dutch print artist)" but also forcedly change directions, customers become surrounded by the view of cherry blossoms cut out by the gable roof forms of different directions. Through the single circulation that continues to the rooftop terrace, the observatory "Manghwaru(望花樓, Flower view attic)" that portrays a kaleidoscopic spatial experience is created.

티엘츠 사옥(계획안)

이곳은 벚꽃 명소인 진해에서도 벚꽃길이 있는 하천에 접해 있고, 만개한 벚꽃이 산 정상까지 이어지는 것을 볼 수 있는 손꼽히는 경승지다. 대지 주변은 야외 테라스나 계단을 통해 주변 환경과 연결된 연립주택이 많다. 연립주택의 외장재는 주로 벽돌 타일이다. 건축주의 기존 카페인 티엘츠(TEAELTS)도 벽돌이 주된 재료이고, 정원에 면하는 온실의 박공지붕이 특징적이어서 새로 이전하는 카페에 이러한 요소를 답습하는 것이 좋겠다고 생각했다.

대지는 모서리 부분이 잘려 나가 삼면이 도로에 접하고 모양이다. 도로에 접한 세 변의 길이가 별로 차이가 없어 대지 형태에 맞춰 방향과 높이가 다른 3개의 박공지붕을 배치하기로 했다. 처음에는 각각의 박공 지붕에 현관, 계단실과 식물재배용 온실, 카페의 기능을 넣었는데, 내부 동선과 공간 체험을 검토하면서 설정한 기능과 경계를 허무는 것이 설계 주제가 되었다. 외부에서는 박공지붕이 모인 집합체로 보이게 하면서 내부에서는 어떻게 자유롭게 경계를 횡단할 수 있도록 할지(회유성), 어떻게 하면 박공지붕을 동시에 많이 보이게 할지, 내부 깊숙한 곳까지 보이게 할지(투명성), 공간의 회유성과 투명성 확보에 힘썼다.

네덜란드 판화가 에셔(M. C. Escher)의 작품처럼 하나로 연결되지만, 억지로 방향을 바꾸는 계단을 통해 고객은 다양한 방향에서 벚꽃을 조망할 수 있다. 옥상 테라스까지 연결되는 하나의 동선을 통해 만화경 같은 공간 체험을 연출하는 전망대 망화루(望花樓)를 창출한다.
