2HYUN Building is an office building of a design company building located at the corner of an 8m side street in Jung-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu. It is a place that has both a space for work as an office building, as well as a resting and exhibition space for employees and visitors.

The building has the appearance of a solid red brick mass with minimal vertical windows and balconies. The purpose of this plain and restrained design is to secure the privacy of the working space within the residential area in which the office building is located. In contrast to the enormous exterior, the interior is made up of open spaces that consider the working environment. The first to fourth floors are linked with a vertical staircase, and this staircase connects with the exterior through the windows and balconies. In particular, the partially open walls of the exterior resting space provided on the top floor allow it to be used as a resting space for employees to take a breath in the city.

A variety is given as most of the interior space utilizes together walls of exposed concrete, metal HR steel plates and red bricks. The use of red bricks as the external finishing material creates an organic connection between the interior and exterior. Macheon granite burner flaring, hardwood floor, porcelain tiles, etc. were used on the floor, and the distinct feature is that the high sense of space was emphasized by omitting the ceiling finish of the work, exhibition and resting spaces.

절제된 디자인으로 프라이버시를 확보한 이현빌딩

이현(2HYUN) 빌딩은 대구광역시 수성구 중동의 8m 이면 도로의 코너에 위치한 디자인 업체의 사옥이다. 업무를 위한 공간과 직원과 방문객을 배려한 휴게, 전시 공간을 함께 갖춘 곳이기도 하다.

건축물은 붉은 벽돌의 솔리드(Soild)한 매스에 최소한의 수직 창과 발코니가 드러난 모습이다. 이 화려하지 않고 절제된 디자인은 사옥이 위치한 주거지역 내에서 업무 공간의 프라이버시를 확보하기 위한 것이다. 폐쇄적인 외관과 대조적으로, 내부는 근무환경을 고려한 개방적인 공간들로 만들어져 있다. 1층부터 4층까지 일자형 계단으로 연결되며, 이러한 계단은 창과 발코니를 통해 바깥과 이어진다. 특히, 최상층에 마련된 외부 휴게 공간 일부분 오픈된 벽체가 근무자들의 숨통을 트이는 도심 속 휴식공간으로 쓰인다.

내부 공간의 대부분은 노출콘크리트 벽체이며, 금속재인 구로 철판과 붉은 벽돌이 함께 사용되어 다채로움을 준다. 외부 마감재로 쓰인 적벽돌의 사용은 내외부의 유기적인 연계를 만들어낸다. 바닥에는 마천석 버너구이, 원목마루, 포세린 타일 등이 사용됐으며, 업무, 전시, 휴게 공간은 천장 마감을 생략하는 것으로 높은 공간감을 살린 것이 특징이다.
