TThe new Union Food Court marks a significant milestone in the revitalization of Toronto's busiest transit hub. The vision for the Food Court is to continually transform the space into an inviting haven to all visitors to the Station. The 210 cloud-like structures suspended above the seating area, a key feature of the Union Food Court, were created by Design Architects PARTISANS in collaboration with DIALOG and retail design consultants GH+A.

These sculptural units, the PODS (Pressurized Ocular Diffuser System) made from glass fibre reinforced gypsum, include a lighting programme design conceived by Lightemotion. Lightemotion studied how best lighting could be diffused in the pod structures and specified the use of a DMX controlled system using LED fixtures that could change the coloration and tonality of the light. The use of a special lens was used to help diffuse the light, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere that evolves throughout the course of the day. The clever system can make subtle lighting and tone changes that give the space an ambience befitting the time of the day and can be adapted based on events taking place.

유니온 역 푸드코트

새로운 유니온 푸드 코트는 토론토(Toronto)에서 가장 번화한 교통 허브의 활성화에 중요한 이정표이다. 유니온 푸드 코트의 비전은 역에 오는 모든 방문객들에게 안식처로써 계속해서 변화시키는 것이다. 유니온 푸드 코트의 주요한 특징인 좌석 위에 매달려 있는 210개의 구름 모양 구조물은 디자인 건축가 파티산스(PARTISANS)가 다이얼로그(DIALOG)와 소매업 디자인 컨설턴트인 GH+A와 협력한 작품이다.

GRC보드(유리섬유 보강 천연석고)로 만든 이 구조물의 PODS(기밀구조 시각 분산 시스템)는  이트이모션(Lightemotion)이 고안한 조명설계이다. 라이트이모션은 포드(Pod) 구조에서 최상의 조명 빛이 확산할 수 있는 방법을 연구했으며, 빛의 색조와 톤을 바꿀 수 있는 LED 고정 장치를 사용하여 DMX 제어 시스템(DMX controlled system) 사용을 구체화했다. 특수 렌즈는 빛을 분산시키는 데 도움이 되고 하루 종일 환영하는 분위기를 만든다. 이 시스템은 시간에 따라 어울리는 분위기로 공간을 바꿀 수 있는 섬세한 빛과 톤의 변화를 만들 수 있으며, 일어나는 행사에 따라 조정할 수 있다.
