Just as a residential space is a big fragment of the lives of its users and residents, a detached house (multi-family) where three generations live together resembles those who live there since distinction and diversity of spaces between generations coexists. Within the space consisting of three floors, one basement floor and two floors above ground, the first floor, as the space in which the owner couple, a dual-income couple, and their son live, was planned as a space with an outstanding atmosphere of unique stillness with a flow of sequence where the presentment of the borrowed scenery enjoying the yard stands out. Furthermore, the second floor that is connected through the staircase where the light from the skylight shines, past the independent front entrance, is a private space. Here, a varied interior space is presented as the sense of volume is maximized through the southern light of the clerestory and the living room space with a high floor height, including the stairway portion with the stairs leading up to the rooftop.

In this project, the difficult yet familiar aesthetics of ‘Koreanness’ was aimed to be expressed as a full scene through a borrowed scenery technique. In addition, the sequence of windows through the landscape has gradations and shades of various lights, breathes with the space and is encountered in a different appearance everyday. The abundance of the ‘house’, where that emotional sympathy and thrill coexists, is reborn everyday as a different ‘life’ within the accumulation of time and memories of living in the space.

The boundary and hierarchy of the first and second floor spaces are divided along an independent staircase of a narrow and long path. The dramatic light of the narrow and long skylight that shines from a high floor height of 7m becomes a ray of light at the stair space with a calm illuminance, and refreshes emotions.

Through the intrusion of light and nature of diverse variations within the space where diversity coexists, a differentiated residential space that breaks the boundary of the interior and exterior and is full of sympathy was aimed to be expressed. Based on the original physical beauty possessed by the architecture, the second floor space has the quality of a strong horizontal flor and spatial respiration. A space that has a promenade-like passage or corridor in order to reach the desired space was planned, and with a connection flow of circuit style spaces rather than a structure that is exposed everywhere, a structure where curiosity and sentimental ventilation coexists was shown. Therefore, within the overall space, the private and common spaces were naturally separated and connected, and an interior plan where functionality and aesthetics coexists was formed.

건축디자이너 아내와 목수 남편이 지은 3세대 판교주택

쓰는 이, 사는 이의 삶의 큰 단편이 주거공간인 것처럼 3대가 모여 사는 단독주택(다가구)은 세대 간 공간의 차별성과 다양성이 공존하여 거주하는 사람을 온전히 닮아있다. 지하 1층과 지상 2층, 전체 3개 층으로 이루어진 공간에서 1층은 맞벌이 부부인 건축주 내외와 아들이 거주하는 공간으로 마당을 향유하는 차경 연출이 돋보이는 시퀀스의 흐름으로 고유의 정적인 분위기가 돋보이는 공간으로 계획되었다. 또한, 독립된 단독 현관을 지나 천창의 빛이 쏟아지는 계단실을 통해 연결된 2층은 개인적인 공간으로 옥상 계단을 오르는 계단부를 포함하여, 높은 층고의 거실공간과 고측 창의 남향 빛을 통해 볼륨감이 극대화되어 단조롭지 않은 실내공간을 연출한다.

이번 작업에서 ‘한국성’이라는 어렵고도 친근한 미학을 차경 기법을 통해 소담한 장면으로 표현하고자 했다. 또한, 풍경을 통한 창들의 시퀀스는 다양한 빛의 농담과 음영을 지니고 공간과 호흡하며 매일 다른 모습으로 마주하게 된다. 그 정서적 감응과 설렘이 공존하는 ‘집’의 풍요로움은 공간을 살아가는 시간과 추억들의 중첩 속에 매일이 다른 ‘삶’으로 새롭게 태어난다.

1층과 2층 공간의 경계와 위계는 좁고 긴 통로의 독립된 계단실을 따라 나뉜다. 7m의 높은 층고에서 쏟아지는 좁고 긴 천창의 드라마틱한 빛은 차분한 조도의 계단 공간에서 한 줄기 섬광이 되어 정서의 환기를 가져다준다. 다양성이 공존한 공간 속 다양한 변주의 빛과 자연의 관입을 통해 내외부의 경계를 무너뜨리고 감응이 살아있는 차별화된 주거공간을 표현하고자 했다. 2층 공간은 건축이 지닌 본래적인 형태미에 근거하여 장방향의 흐름과 공간의 호흡이 강한 특성을 지녔다. 목적하는 공간에 다다르기 위하여 산책길과 같은 통로 혹은 복도가 존재하는 공간을 계획하였으며, 사방이 드러나 있는 구조가 아닌 회유식 공간의 연결 흐름으로 호기심과 정서적 환기가 공존하는 구조를 나타낸다. 그리하여 전체적인 공간 가운데 사적인 공간과 공용 공간을 자연스럽게 분리, 연결하여 기능성과 심미성이 공존한 실내계획이 이루어졌다.
