The site is located in the middle of a line facing the mountain side of a housing complex that runs along the hill between an apartment complex on the east and the mountain on the west. The mountain view is the first reason why the owner bought the site. In the middle of the city, it is not easy to find land with a view of the mountain from a short distance. For that reason, the owner wanted to make the mountain view the main element of the house composition. Before designing the house, we found that most of the houses were exposed to being seen by passersby from the street. It was because of the guideline requiring that a fence should be made from a hedge in the district unit plan. At some point, this guideline has been included in the district unit plan for house complexes across the country, so this was the case in this area. Reflecting these points, the main focuses of the plan were to secure the mountain view and provide privacy from the road.

In order for these to happen, the kitchen was separated from the main volume so that the courtyard was not visible from the road by arranging the house in the form of a “L” By placing the entrance through the wall, the building gained privacy and had a procedural exterior space from the road to the house. The owner wanted to see the mountain in all spaces of the house, but this would have the disadvantage of giving up the sun exposure from south, which meant the house would have an eastern sun exposure. Also, his request meant that the building would face the north and south at a hefty height on a narrow street. However, if only one room facing the road on the second floor did not have a mountain view, good sun exposure and a view would be possible, and this worked.

The idea was that if a good space is seen too much, the space could fade in value. Open and closed cement blocks were used on the border with the neighbor on the south and plants were arranged so that privacy with loose boundaries was kept along with the yard raised by the level difference. From the roof deck, you can see the high-rise apartments on the west and the mountain on the east. Also, you can visualize the story of this house located in city center. We imagine a happy daily life for the lady of the house who prepares a delicious meal while viewing the mountain through the yard from the kitchen.

관저동 YEHAUS

대지는 동쪽 아파트 단지와 서쪽 산 사이에 언덕을 따라 길게 배치되어 있는 주택단지의 중심에 있으며, 집은 산과 면하고 있다. 건축주는 산이 보인다는 이유로 땅을 구매했다고 전해왔다. 도심 한가운데에서 가깝게 산을 바라볼 수 있는 대지를 만나기란 쉽지 않다. 건축주는 집에서 산을 바라보는 것을 중요하게 생각했다. 주변의 주택은 대부분 거리에서 집안이 훤히 들여다보이도록 노출되어 있었다. 지구단위계획에서 담장을 생울타리로 만들도록 한 지침 때문이었다. 언제부턴가 이 지침이 전국의 모든 주택단지 지구단위계획에 베껴 쓰듯 들어가게 되면서 지금과 같은 현상이 벌어지게 된 것이다. 이런 점들을 반영하여 계획의 주안점은 산을 향한 조망 확보와 도로로부터 프라이버시를 확보하는 것이었다.

ㄱ자 형태로 계획하여 메인 볼륨에서 꺾인 부분에 주방을 배치했고, 길에서 안마당이 보이지 않도록 건물을 대지에서 도로와 접한 부분에 매치했다. 현관 진입 부분은 벽으로 한 번 돌아서 들어가게 계획하여, 길에서 집으로 들어가는 외부공간을 두고 프라이버시를 확보했다. 또한, 건축주는 모든 공간에서 산을 조망하길 원했다. 하지만 그렇게 되면 동향으로 집을 배치해야 했고, 좁은 전면 도로와 부담스러운 높이의 남북 방향 볼륨을 마주해야만 했다. 이러한 이유로 2층의 도로와 접한 방은 산 조망을 포기할 수 밖에 없었다.

좋은 공간(산)도 많이 보면 그 가치가 퇴색될 수 있다는 나의 의견도 반영된 결과다. 남쪽의 바로 옆집과의 경계는 구멍이 뚫린 시멘트 블록과 수목으로 레벨 차로 인해 높아진 마당과 함께 느슨한 경계로 프라이버시를 확보했다. 옥상 데크에 나가면 서쪽의 고층 아파트와 동쪽의 산이 동시에 보이며, 도심에서 이 주택이 자리 잡은 이야기를 짐작할 수 있게 된다. 주방에서 마당을 통한 산을 향해 열린 조망을 보며 맛있는 식사를 준비하는 안주인의 행복한 일상이 머릿속에 그려진다.
