House on the house

House on the house used to be shanty above the slums. It was ruins contained whole family with 6 persons on the top of an 86 years history water tower. Architect decided to totally reconstruct the house base on left structure of water tower as meanwhile can’t change house contour according to the code. And the new house should be a complex system with different subsystem but influent each other in content and space with simple display.

Architect must fight against low budget, tight neighborhood and construction period. Just want to create a perfect universe named nutshell full of all kinds of possibilities, but the last presentation should look easy that is called Chinese aesthetics.

The 34 square meters nutshell especial designed as the family’s own ergonomic and wishes. It is followed the staircase by skylight as leading run through 6 levers with foyer, kitchen, living room, laundry, 2 bathrooms, green wall, 2 bedrooms, goldfish bowl, painted penthouse and a vertical garden. It is total universe in scenery of shanghai.

The universe hung in the air was owner’s utopia as his thought with happiness and dignity, also satisfied with complete functions including hoist help for hanging weight. When the door closed, he would be king as he wished. Architect painted the whole water tower. The new façade made the dilapidated community look more vibrant. It was warm accepted by the locals at last with this subtle change which showed their attitude, each day is better than yesterday.

집 위의 집
집 위의 집(House on the house)은 빈민가보다 더 지저분했다. 86년의 역사가 있는 급수탑 위에 6명의 가족이 있는 폐허였다. 건축법에 따라 집의 등고선을 바꿀 수 없었기 때문에 건축가는 급수탑의 왼쪽 구조 위에 있는 주택 기지를 완전히 재건하기로 결정했다. 그리고 새 집은 서로 다른 하위 시스템을 가진 복잡한 시스템이지만 단순한 표현으로 콘텐츠와 공간이 서로에게 영향을 주어야 한다.

건축가들은 저 예산, 빡빡한 이웃 그리고 건설 기간과 싸워야 한다. 모든 종류의 가능성으로 가득찬 작은 것(nutshell)이라는 이름의 완벽한 우주를 만들고 싶을 뿐이지만, 종국에는 중국 미학이라고 불리는 것이 쉬워 보일 것이다.

34㎡의 작은 집은 가족의 인체 공학적 설계와 희망을 담아 특별히 설계 되었다. 6개의 레버가 있는 입구에서 부터 천창의 일광이 계단을 따라 이어지며, 이는 부엌, 휴게실, 세탁실, 욕실 2개, 녹색 벽, 침실 2개, 금붕어 어항, 페인트 칠 된 펜트 하우스 및 수직 정원이 있는 곳까지 이어진다. 상하이(shanghai) 풍경의 우주이다.

공중에 매달려있는 우주는 주인의 행복과 존엄성에 대한 유토피아였으며, 매달린 무게를 위한 게양장치의 구조적 도움을 포함하여 완전한 기능의 만족을 이뤘다. 문이 닫히면, 건축주는 그가 원하는대로 왕이 될 것이다. 건축가는 그 탑 전체를 페인트 칠 했다. 새로운 입면은 황폐한 공동체를 더욱 활기차게 보이게 했다. 그들의 태도를 보여주는 이 미묘한 변화로 마침내 지역 주민들이 이 집을 따뜻하게 받아들였으며, 모든 날들이 어제보다 나은 삶이 됐다.
