The assignment was to envision a house for a temporary family retreat on a site without infrastructure while at the same time atisfying the needs of the user. The Issa Megaron project is dealing with questions regarding the context of the site boundary, envisioned on the plot that is read as a “void”, blank space- deception is that context is non -existent.

The assignment was to design a house for a temporary family retreat on a site without infrastructure, at the same time completely satisfying the needs of the user. Given that the “genius loci” is not only the plot an island of Vis but actually Mediterranean, we conceive the house by the system of the Megaron, reinterpreting the ancient stone drywalls and creating a new rural man-made topography using simple construction technologies.

The complete lack of infrastructure and general inaccessibility imply that self-sustainability is prerogative – natural cooling and ventilation, rainwater exploitation, solar panels, and other elaborate ways of exploiting natural resources, enabling the facility to function as a place for life and work. The house is envisioned as a dug in volume, a residential pocket between the stretches of space forming walls, an artificial grotto, a memory of a primitive shelter.

It consists of two levels - sleeping quarters/lounge on the first floor and downstairs open space dining/ kitchen/lounge area opened to the covered and uncovered terraces and pool deck. All the bearing elements are made of reinforced concrete. Stone from the site was used for the facade cladding. The design that emerges from such conditions is unobtrusive, subtly, creates a symbiosis with the new/old stonewall topography. Sustainable design has shown to be the only solution for the completion of the project, that encompasses the plausibility of the project, minimal costs, satisfaction of all user needs, local government and urban plans as well as the architectural expression.

All the bearing elements are made of reinforced concrete, which in the interior are also a finished look. Stone from the site was used for the cladding of the facade, terrace and new bearing walls on the site – from the remains of the site excavation and stone from the old stone walls that have lost their structural integrity. Wood for the pool terrace, floors and shutters for sun protection are from local origin. The newly built structure is both man-made / handmade, unobtrusive in intent, material and ultimate appearance.

이사 메가론 이 프로젝트의 과제는 사용자의 요구를 충족시키는 동시에 사회 공공 기반 시설이 없는 대지에 가족의 휴양을 위한 집을 구상하는 것이었다. 이사 메가론(Issa Megaron) 프로젝트는‘ 빈 공간(void)’으로 읽히는 대지에서 구상된 대지 경계의 맥락에 관한 질문을 다루고 있다.

“이 땅의 수호신”은 Vis의 섬일 뿐만 아니라 지중해의 섬인 것을 감안하여 메가론 시스템으로 이 집을 생각하고, 고대 석재 건식벽을 재해석한 단순한 시공 기술을 사용하여 새로운 시골 인공 지형을 만들어 낸다. 기반 시설이 부족하고 접근성이 떨어지기 때문에 자연 냉각 및 환기, 빗물 이용, 태양열 패널 및 기타 천연 자원을 이용한 설비와 같은 자체 지속 가능성이 중요하다. 이러한 천연 자원을 개발하는 정교한 방법을 통해 시설을 삶과 일터의 장소로 사용할 수 있었다.

집은 공간을 파고있는 공간, 벽을 형성하는 공간 사이의 주거 포켓, 인공 동굴(grotto), 원시적인 피난처의 기억으로 구상된다. 집은 2층으로 구성되어 있다. 1층에는 침실/ 라운지, 아래층에는 개방형 식당, 주방, 라운지 공간이 테라스와 수영장으로 열려 있다. 모든 내력 요소는 철근 콘크리트이다. 현장에서 나온 돌이 정면에 외피로 사용되었다.

이러한 조건에서 나온 디자인은 지나친 관심을 끌지 않으며, 석담의 지형으로 미묘한 신/구 공생을 이끈다. 지속 가능한 디자인은 프로젝트의 타당성, 최소 비용, 모든 사용자의 요구 충족, 지방 정부와 도시 계획은 물론 건축 표현을 포함하여 프로젝트 완료를 위한 유일한 해결책이라는 것을 보여줬다.

모든 내력 요소는 철근 콘크리트로 만들어져 있으며 이것으로 내부는 완성된 모양을 갖춘다. 대지의 돌은 건축물의 외관, 테라스 및 새 내력벽에 사용되었는데, 구조적 건전성을 잃은 기존 석벽 및 부지의 굴착 과정에서 나온 돌을 재사용했다. 수영장 테라스용 목재, 바닥 및 태양광 보호를 위한 셔터는 지역 재료이다. 새로 지어진 이 건축물은 의도적으로 눈에 띄지 않는 재료로 만들어진 궁극의 외관을 갖춘 인공적/수공예적 건물이다.
