60대 부부가 사는 니시아자부 하우스는 조용한 주거 지역의 좁은 골목길에 위치해 있다. 전형적인 도심 주거 지역들과 같이 집들은 빽빽한 인상을 주며 골목을 따라 세워져 있다. 이런 좁은 골목길로 인해 대지를 골목에 대해 90도 각도로 두 부분으로 분할하여 오른편에는 침실, 화장실, 창고와 같은 개인적 공간이 배치되고 왼편에는 부엌, 응접실, 거실, 서재와 같은 공공 공간으로 구성됐다. 2층의 거실과 3층의 서재는 마치 테라스처럼 뒤편을 향해 위로 올라가는 계단식이며, 유리 상자 속에 3층짜리 스킵플로어 공간이 나타난다. 수직의 빈 공간은 하늘부터 골목까지 넓고 개방된 시야를 제공하며, 사생활을 보호하는 완충지대의 기능도 한다. 유리 천장에는 조광 유리가 설치되어 투과되는 햇빛의 양이 조절되며, 쾌적한 환경을 위해 개방된 천장의 높이 차이를 활용한 환기 시스템이 사용됐다.

Nishiazabu House, where a couple in their 60s resides, is located on a quiet residential street in a narrow alleyway. As in typical urban residential areas, houses are closely packed along the alleyway. Due to this narrow alley, the site was divided into two parts at a 90-degree angle to the alley. The right side contains private spaces such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and storage, while the left side consists of public spaces including a kitchen, dining area, living room, and study. The living room on the second floor and the study on the third floor are connected by a staircase that ascends towards the rear, creating a terrace-like effect. A three-story skip-floor space is revealed within a glass box. The vertical void space provides a wide and open view from the sky to the alley and also acts as a buffer zone to protect privacy. Smart glass is installed on the glass ceiling to regulate the amount of incoming sunlight, and a ventilation system utilizing the height difference of the open ceiling provides a comfortable environment.
