Playstudios offices, planned and designed by RUST Architects, are located in a complex of three industrial buildings in south Tel Aviv, which served as an exhibition and events hall and an old sewing workshop of Kastiel, Israel's oldest high-end furniture company. Unlike most of new high-tech offices in Tel Aviv, which are located in new towers, the planning required the design of an existing industrial complex, constructed of beams, concrete pillars, and wide windows that are open to a large inner courtyard with its old tree and climbing plants that are synonymous with the complex.
The company, which specializes in gaming and applications, sought to create a wholesome, pleasant, soft and light-filled space with few interferences. The architects decided to work with a wide range of materials and textures while keeping the color palette subtle and limited. The main building design includes a bright entrance and waiting area, 5 self-contained working areas for each team with their own lounge for meet-ups overlooking the inner courtyard and small meeting rooms. A large bar, essentially part of the courtyard, is surrounded by a tribune that generates interactions every hour of the day.
The additional building contains a large conference room as the focal point from the courtyard, meeting rooms of various sizes, work areas, management offices, and a fitness center including bathrooms and kitchenettes for each wing. The third building was converted into a large versatile hall with tribunes and modular furniture, next to a large open central kitchen that is operated by an industrialized kitchen that can cook and feed all the workers daily and in events.
On the roof of the two main buildings, a large balcony overlooks the rooftops of the south of the city. The architects decided to leave the "white boxes" and expose the structural elements made of concrete. The exposed systems of the ceiling are painted a delicate gray and the window openings were enlarged in order to strengthen the connection between the interior and exterior. Wide use of bright birch wood and quartz surfaces in delicate natural tones combined with light painted walls allow natural light to enter the spaces freely.
In the main kitchen, a 9-meter long work island is used as a platter to serve food throughout the day. The island, like the bar, becomes a thriving space during working hours. The architects created a system of lighting fixtures that enables a variety of options: focused, flushing, central to the space or personal to the worker. Along with the technical lighting, classic lighting fixtures were chosen that manage to refine the industrialized ceiling and the wide concrete pillars.
RUST Architects가 기획하고 설계한 플레이 스튜디오 사무실은 이스라엘에서 가장 오래된 고급 가구 회사인 Kastiel의 전시 및 이벤트 홀과 오래된 바느질 작업장의 역할을 하는 텔아비브(Tel aviv) 남부의 3개의 산업 건물 복합단지에 있다. 타워에 들어서는 텔아비브의 다른 새로운 첨단 기술 사무실들과 달리 기존의 산업단지 내 설계를 필요로 했으며, 보, 콘크리트 기둥, 넓은 안뜰로 통하는 넓은 창문과 고목, 덩굴식물들이 있다.
게임과 애플리케이션을 전문으로 하는 이 회사는 간섭이 거의 없는 건전하고 쾌적하며 부드럽고 가벼운 공간을 만들기 위해 노력했다. 건축가들은 색상 팔레트를 섬세하고 제한적으로 유지하면서 광범위한 재료와 질감을 가지고 작업하기로 했다. 본관 디자인은 밝은 입구와 대기공간, 팀별로 5개의 자급식 작업공간과 안마당이 내려다보이는 만남의 공간, 작은 회의실 등이 있다. 기본적으로 안뜰의 일부인 큰 바는 매일 매시간 상호작용을 하는 연단(演壇)에 둘러싸여 있다.
추가 건물에는 안뜰에서 중심이 되는 대형 회의실, 다양한 크기의 회의실, 작업 공간, 관리 사무실, 각 동에 욕실과 간이 주방이 있는 피트니스 센터가 있다. 세 번째 건물은 연단(演壇)과 모듈식 가구가 있는 다목적 대형 홀로 바뀌었고, 그 옆에는 식당이 운영하는 대형 개방형 중앙 주방이 있어, 모든 근로자들을 위해 매일 요리하고 행사에서 먹일 수 있는 음식을 제공한다.
두 개의 주요 건물의 지붕에는 도시의 남쪽이 내려다보이는 커다란 발코니가 있다. 건축가들은 "흰 상자"를 남겨두고 콘크리트로 만들어진 구조 요소들을 노출시키기로 결정했다. 천장의 노출된 시스템은 회색으로 칠하고 창문 개구부는 확대하여 내외부의 연결성을 강화했다. 밝은 자작나무와 석영 표면을 은은한 자연색 벽과 어우러져 넓게 활용하면 자연광이 자유롭게 공간에 들어올 수 있다.
주방에서 9m 길이의 아일랜드 식탁은 하루 종일 음식이 제공된다. 그 아일랜드 식탁은 술집처럼 근무 시간 동안 활발한 공간이 된다. 건축가들은 집중식, 플러싱, 공간 중심 또는 작업자의 개인적인 옵션 등 다양한 옵션을 가능하게 하는 조명 설비의 시스템을 만들었다. 기술 조명과 함께 산업화된 천장과 넓은 콘크리트 기둥을 세련되게 만드는 고전적인 조명기구가 사용됐다.
