Designed at the request of the nation's largest collector of ceramic art, the HHL Ceramic Museum will be located on a site overlooking the heart of Heyri Village. The client had already run two private art galleries (Contemporary Ceramic Museum and Hanhyangrim Onggi Museum), which requested space design to display additional ceramic works accumulated for about 30 years. The museum, located on the southwest-facing slope facing the Reed Square, has entered a slope with a height difference of 20m. Buildings built in Heyri should meet the conditions that the height of the building should not exceed 12m at all points based on the existing natural ground, and the museum was given the same conditions. The architect laid out the museum by cutting out the least amount of ground, maintaining as much natural terrain as possible.

The building has three white masses, largely divided by topography and view direction. The square of the long-winded direction, which is stacked in a different way, creates a view and program-specific space that fits the terrain, and the interior space also varies according to the direction and angle of the mass. The outer space is created as the upper part of the mass piled up from the naturally made floor, and the exhibition space is expanded to the outside landscape and nature. In this method of stacking, the architect's concerns are contained, creating a program-specific separate space called exhibition and space management, along with a flexible flow to the core and a hall encompassing three floors where the mass on each floor intersects.

The first basement floor, which is used as the main entrance, has an art shop and a children's ceramic experience center, and is a space where collections of architects are displayed from the first to second floors. The third floor, the top floor of the museum, has an open view from Heyri Village to Odu Mountain Unification Observatory and Han River. It is a rest and cafe for visitors. Visitors will be able to view the exhibition space with natural flow from the moment they enter the museum, and then create an experience that is completed with a wide stretch of Heyri scenery on the third floor. In addition, there is a movement line connected to existing exhibition facilities (Hanhyangrim Onggi Museum) through the rear, adjacent to the museum's dead-end alley, and it can also be linked to a nearby land park to be built later.
