THE TRIANGLE

The Triangle, with a sharp angle that sits deep in Paju Heyri Art Village, is the space of a couple of young metal craftsmen. It has total floor area of about 330.57m2 and a work space, exhibition space, and a slight residential space for metal craft work, and was built on an unformal site located at the end of the Heyri Art Village road. The client couple's craftwork, the shape of the land, and the relationship with the outer space connected from the cul-de-sac as a triangular mass with strong symbolism, giving people an impressive first impression. In addition, the mass was designed to guide the building from the dead end to the entrance.

The Triangle has repeated use of acute space and form. These powerful and consistently applied triangular sharp angles complete the space with their respective sizes and shapes. The architect made repeated and complex use of the acute sense, compartmentalizing the space and not missing any aesthetic elements.

 

The triangular mass formalizes the outer space of the unstructured land, which forms the role of the entry space, such as a natural yard connected from the cul-de-sac. It is also building the identity of Heyri Village and this building with FACADE toward the eight-lane National Road (formerly the English Village Entrance Plaza) located in the northwest.

The interior space, which is created according to the overall mass form, creates a space surrounded by walls of acute angle that are not easily seen in other buildings. This sense of space gives residents or visitors a non-daily experience. Also, as various angles of space are inserted, it creates a highly utilized space inside. The light entering the exhibition and work space brings about a constant change in the concept and character of the space, resulting from a small window in a form that seems to have been carved into the outer wall. Small niches carved all over the outer wall control the concentration of light according to time and season, and make the interior space segmented by light, not by clear physical boundaries. On the first floor, the 7m-high exhibition space and craftwork production space are located around the sky, and on the second floor, which consists of separate copper wire, there is a resting and simple residential space for the writers' couple.

더 트라이앵글: 조금갤러리

파주 헤이리예술마을 가장 깊숙한 곳에 자리잡은 첨예한 각을 지닌 이 건축물은 젊은 금속공예작가 부부의 공간이다. 연면적 100평 규모 내에 금속공예작업을 위한 작업공간 및 전시공간, 약간의 주거공간을 갖춘 공간으로, 헤이리예술마을 도로의 끝에 위치한 비정형의 대지에 세워졌다. 건축주 부부의 공예작품과 토지의 형상, 쿨데삭에서부터 연결되는 외부 공간과의 관계는 강력한 상징성을 가진 삼각형의 매스로 나타나며, 사람들에게 인상적인 첫 인상을 준다. 또한, 매스의 형태는 막다른도로로부터 진입하는 부분까지 자연스러운 동선으로 건축물까지 안내하도록 디자인됐다.

 

더 트라이앵글에는 예각을 가진 공간과 형태가 반복적으로 사용되어 있다. 이 강력하면서도 일관적으로 적용되는 삼각형의 예각들은 제각기의 크기와 형태로 공간을 완성시킨다. 건축가는 예각을 반복적이고 복합적으로 사용하면서 공간을 구획하고 심미적 요소도 놓치지 않았다.

삼각형의 매스는 비정형 대지의 외부공간을 정형화하며 이는 쿨데삭으로부터 연결된 자연스러운 마당과 같은 진입공간의 역할을 구성한다. 또한, 북서측에 위치한 8차로의 국도(옛, 영어마을의 진입광장)를 향한 FACADE로 헤이리마을 및 본건축물의 정체성을 구축하고 있다.

전체적인 매스 형태에 따라 만들어지는 내부 공간은 다른 건축물에서는 쉽게 볼 수 없는 예각의 벽으로 둘러 싸인 공간을 만들어낸다. 이러한 공간감은 거주자 또는 방문자에게 비(非)일상의 경험을 선사한다. 또한 다양한 각도의 공간이 삽입되면서, 내부의 활용도 높은 공간을 만들어 내기도 한다. 전시와 작업 공간에 들어오는 빛은 공간의 개념과 성격에 지속적인 변화를 불러내는데, 이는 외벽에 조각된 것 같은 형태의 작은 창에서 비롯된다. 외벽 곳곳에 새겨진 작은 틈새는 시간과 계절에 따라 빛의 농도를 조절하고, 내부 공간을 명확한 물리적 경계가 아닌 빛으로 공간을 구획하도록 만든다. 1층에서는 7m 층고의 전시공간과 공예작품 제작공간이 천창을 중심으로 위치해 있으며, 분리된 동선을 통해 구성된 2층에 작가부부를 위한 휴식 및 간이 주거공간이 있다.
