The site is located in the suburb of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The house is a place to live and play of a three-generation family. The house is designed to adapt to the tropical climate, increase the connection of people with each other and with nature through the living space by architectural solutions.

THE MIDDLE COMMON SPACE ENCOURAGES COMMON ACTIVITIES

The common space in the middle of the house where take place many activities, such as a corner for grandpa drinks tea, a kitchen for grandma cooks and a place for children play around the courtyard. The surrounding private spaces can see and directly connected to this common space.

With the layout, people tend to gather in the middle space. This encourages common activities and increases the visibility in everywhere in the house.

SEPARATED BLOCKS CREATE VENTILATION AND LIFE IN HARMONY WITH NATURE

Private room in box blocks are separated from each other to create more gaps and air convection to every corner of the house. At the same time, the deviated wall layout creates a variety of large and small common courtyard space under the sloping roof, without partitions with gardens, sunlight and trees. These private rooms all open to private small back gardens, creating a living space in harmony with nature.

THE BOX BLOCKS PENETRATE THE SLOPING ROOF

To have enough the number of rooms, we created two-storey box blocks that penetrate the sloping roof. This creates a sense of volume like a one-story house in harmony with the context of surrounding low-rise houses and simultaneously creates an interesting space on the roof. This architecture is created from the contrast between the architecture of modern box blocks and the old stone roof. It means between the rough and scabrous material of the roof and the smooth of the box blocks.

공용부와 사생활의 연결지점, 호크 몬 주택

이 프로젝트는 베트남 호치민시 교외에 자리했다. 주택은 삼대에 걸친 가족이 살아가고 놀 수 있는 공간으로 계획되었다. 이 주택은 열대 기후에 적응하고, 건축적 해결책에 의해 생활 공간이 사람과 사람, 사람과 자연의 연결을 장려하도록 설계되었다.

공동활동을 장려하는 공용공간

할아버지가 차를 마실 수 있는 모퉁이, 할머니가 요리할 수 있는 부엌, 그리고 아이들이 뛰어놀 수 있는 뜰 등 주택은 많은 활동을 할 수 있는 고용공간을 중앙에 가지고 있다. 주변을 둘러싼 개인공간은 이 공용공간과 시각적으로, 또 직접적으로 연결되어 있다. 레이아웃을 볼 때, 사람들은 중앙에 모이는 경향이 있다. 건축가는 이를 이용해 일상의 활동을 장려하고 집안 어디에서나 가시성을 확보했다.

자연과 조화를 이루며 통풍과 생명을 만드는 분리블록

상자 모양의 블록에 있는 개인공간은 서로 분리되어 집 구석구석까지 더 많은 틈새와 통풍을 만든다. 동시에, 벽 배치에 편차를 두어 정원, 햇빛, 나무가 있는 크고 다양한 뜰이 만들어진다. 이 개인공간은 모두 개인용으로 만들어진 작은 뒷마당과 연결돼 자연과 조화를 이루는 생활공간을 만든다.

경사지붕을 관통하는 블록

방의 수를 충분히 확보하기 위해 경사진 지붕을 관통하는 2층짜리 블록이 계획되었다. 2층 블록은 주변의 저층 주택의 맥락과 조화를 이루며 1층 주택과 같은 볼륨감을 조성하고 옥상에는 흥미로운 공간을 갖는다. 프로젝트는 현대적인 블록 건축과 전통적인 돌 지붕의 대비로 만들어졌다. 지붕의 거칠고 딱지 같은 재질과 블록의 매끄러움 사이에서 건축물의 조화를 찾아볼 수 있다.
