The project is the attempt to create a unique way to “colorize” guests’ experience. The inspiration came from the colorized black and white films in the early 1900’s when the artists hand-painted transparent layers of colors onto black and white films, frame by frame. The result was surreally colorful since the colors were not at the objects, but seemed afloat in the air.
The facade of the building is doubled with three dimensional lattice structure inspired by Chinese bamboo scaffolding, filled with shades of blue and magenta glazing. As sunlight shines through the facade, it floods the space with colorful light while at the same time; the colored glass brightens up the gloomy sky while looking out from the inside. Here, color is used as a three-dimensional architectural element, not as finishing material, to create not only unique visual but also space.
This region has been considered the china’s most famous hot spring destination for over a thousand year. The inspiration for interior design came from the beauty of the hot spring steam itself. Architecturallyscaled arts installations exploring natural phenomenon relating to mist and water are installed throughout the building to tie the entire experience. At the lobby, the installation is inspired by a spectrum of light passing through hot steam. In the restaurant, the installation inspired by silver-lining cloud silhouette defines zones of seating. On the entire ballroom ceiling, a matrix of delicate acrylic rings forms a semi-transparent cloud-like shape.
Large installations in the atriums inspired by two states of water - dew and droplet, stimulate illusion of dimension, scale and gravity. All the guest rooms orientate their long side to the view and to benefit the winter sun. Its monochrome interior surface treatment was originated directly from the main architectural concept.
미스트 호텔
본 프로젝트는 독특한 방법으로 고객의 경험을“ 색채화”하려는 시도이다. 그 영감은, 1900년대 초 예술가들이 손으로 흑백 필름의 프레임별로 색채를 입힌 색체영화에서 영감을 얻었다. 색깔들이 물체에 있는 것이 아니라 공중에 떠 있는 것처럼 보였기 때문에 그 결과는 엄청나게 다채로웠다.
건물의 전면은 푸른색과 마젠타 색 유리로 채워졌으며, 중국의 대나무 비계에서 영감을 받은 3차원적인 격자 구조에 의해 이중으로 조립되었다. 햇빛이 입면을 통과하면, 공간은 다채로운 빛들로 채워진다. 동시에, 색 유리는 안에서 밖을 봤을 때 우울한 하늘을 빛나게 한다. 여기서, 색깔은 시각적 효과를 위한 마감재로서가 아닌 독특한 공간을 만들어주는 3차원적인 건축적 요소로 사용되었음을 알 수 있다.
이 지역은 수천 년에 걸쳐 중국의 가장 유명한 온천 여행지로 꼽히는 곳이다. 실내 디자인의 영감은 온천의 증기 자체의 아름다움으로부터 얻었다. 안개와 물에 대한 자연적 현상을 탐구하는 건축 스케일의 예술 작품들은 전체적인 경험을 결속하기 위해 건물 전체에 걸쳐 설치되었다. 로비에는 뜨거운 증기를 통과하는 빛의 스펙트럼에서 영감을 받은 조형물이 있다. 레스토랑에는 구름의 은빛 가장자리 실루엣에서 영감을 얻은 조형물이 좌석의 영역을 구분한다. 연회장 천장 전체에 걸친 정교한 아크릴 고리들의 행렬은 반투명한 구름 모양을 형성한다.
아트리움의 대규모 설치미술품은 물의 두 가지 상태인 이슬과 물방울에서 영감을 얻었으며, 차원, 규모, 그리고 중력의 환상을 자극한다. 모든 객실의 긴 부분은 전망을 향하여 겨울에도 햇빛이 들어온다. 객실 내부의 단색 표면 처리는 건축의 주요 콘셉트로부터 직접적인 영향을 받았다.
