LUXMARE HOUSES

“Lux mare” means “light of the sea” and the name was chosen because of the light that the ocean, which extends as far as the eye can see, reflects. This is because of its unique location and view. The surrounding area is comprised of isolated houses, most of which were built in the 1970s with gardens around them. The two large plots had a two-floor dwelling in a very poor state of repair and another unfinished construction that is in the wrong place with the wrong size. This means that new constructions are the best solution to re-establish some balance and quality that the site deserves.

The two new houses are supposed to be two individual parts of a set, two autonomous pieces that complement one another, two separate continents, where the contours clearly show the previous coexistence, or the union of two different people or an evocation of love through architecture. The slightly curved shapes suggest this connection, but the differences between them emphasize the individuality of each building.

The Casa Mare, the front one, is built on a lower level and submerges into the garden as it is completely surrounded by vegetation, while the Casa Lux, behind it, benefits from its fantastic location. The houses snuggle down into the landscape without drawing attention to themselves. The only thing that is clearly visible is the horizontal glazed frontages that provide a frame for the different views of the almost perfect symbiosis: the surrounding greenery, the steep cliff, the wideopen sea and the sky. The voids in the buildings, with special attention for the wavy iconographic void and the use of wood are a tribute to one of the greatest architects of the XX century, Alvar Aalto and the Nordic design, where the client comes from. It is a quest for a symbiosis between the crudest architectural culture of the South and the elegance of Northern European design, so that the house is both the origin and the destination. The simple lines, the uniformity and the plasticity of the white plaster and the balance of the resources and the design are factors that should become a benchmark in responsible architecture.

룩스 마레

“룩스 마레(Lux mare)”는 “바다의 빛”을 의미하며 넓게 펼쳐진 바다가 반사하는 빛 때문에 그 이름을 선택했다. 이는 독특한 위치와 전망 때문이다. 주변 지역은 단독주택들로 구성되어 있는데, 대부분은 1970년대 정원이 있는 집으로 지어졌다. 두 개의 주택은 매우 열악한 수리 상태의 2층 주택과 잘못된 크기로 계획된 미완성 건물이었다. 이는 새로운 건축이 이 대지에 걸맞은 균형과 품질을 재확립하는 최선의 해결책이라는 것을 의미한다.

두 개의 새 집은 한 세트에서 두 개의 개별적 부분이자, 서로 보완하는 두 개의 자율적 조형물이며, 두 개의 분리된 영역으로 여겨진다. 그리고 윤곽은 이전의 공존을 또렷이 보여주거나 두 명의 다른 사람들의 결합이나 건축을 통한 사랑의 환기를 보여준다. 살짝 구부러진 모양은 이러한 연관성을 암시하지만 그 차이점들은 각 건물의 개성을 강조한다.

앞쪽에 있는 바다의 집(Casa Mare)은 낮은 곳에 지어져 초목에 완전히 둘러싸여 정원으로 잠기는 반면에, 뒤쪽에 있는 빛의 집(Casa Lux)은 환상적인 장소의 이점을 가지고 있다. 집들은 시선을 끌지 않고 풍경 속에 파묻힌다. 눈에 확 띄는 것은 완벽한 공생의 다른 시야, 즉 주위의 녹지, 가파른 절벽, 넓게 펼쳐진 바다와 하늘을 위한 틀을 제공하는 수평적 유리로 된 파사드이다. 물결치는 상징적 공백으로 나무를 사용한 건물의 빈 공간은 20세기의 가장 위대한 건축가 중에 하나인 알바 알토와 북유럽 디자인에 대한 찬사이다. 남부의 가장 정제되지 않은 건축 문화와 북유럽 디자인의 우아함 사이의 공생을 추구하는 것은 이 집이 궁극적으로 추구하는 개념이다. 단순한 선, 흰 석고의 균일성과 가소성, 자원과 디자인의 균형은 책임 있는 건축의 기준이 되어야 할 요소들이다.
