오슬로의 툴린로카(Tullinløkka) 지역은 전통적으로 대중들의 접근이 차단되어 있다. 개발사 엔트라(Entra)가 오슬로 대학교의 법학부 건물을 포함하여 여러 가지 새로운 구조물의 건립을 준비하면서 단지를 개방하고 내부에 새로운 공공 공간을 구축할 것을 제안함에 따라 Void는 대중들이 새로운 지역을 탐방할 수 있도록 내부로 이끌 수 있는 디자인을 내놓았다. 델타(Delta)는 털링크바아텔럿(Tullinkvartalet) 개발 거리의 골목으로 흐르는 내장형 조명 조각품이다. 구역 중심부의 콘크리트 폭포 위로 빛이 흐르고 두 겹의 형태가 되어 분지 같아 보이기도 한다. 주변에 배치된 센서는 보행자를 인식한다. 사람들의 움직임은 어두운 현무암 암석이 늘어선 알루미늄 강바닥 내로 전파되어 빛의 파동을 일으킨다.

 

유연하게 휘어지는 방수 LED 스트립은 Void가 절차적으로 설계하고 스위스 페마트(Pemat)에서 제조한 맞춤형 알루미늄 프로파일 내부에서 작동된다. 프로파일은 넓게 펼쳐진 아크릴 유리가 늘어서 있는 모습이다. 각 4cm 마다 풀 컬러로 개별적으로 다룰 수 있고, 건축물을 둘러싸고 있는 24개의 3D 카메라 센서에 연결된 지하 단지의 중앙 컴퓨터에서 제어한다. 방문객을 인지한 빛의 파도는 흐름을 만들어 내고 상호적인 경험을 가능하게 해준다. 폭포의 경우 표면의 이중 곡선을 만들어 내기 위해 손으로 조립하여 제작했다.

 

Delta는 노르웨이 오슬로의 툴린로카(Tullinløkka) 개발 지역의 거리와 골목을 흐르는 내장형 조명 조각품이다. 새로운 건축물과 골목, 공공 예술, 바, 카페, 80톤이 넘는 콘크리트 분지를 지나 빛의 삼각주가 시민과 방문객에게 단지 내부를 안내해준다. 건축물에 내장된 센서는 보행자를 인식하고 도시 바닥을 따라 빛의 파동을 전파시킨다.

The interior of Tullinløkka district in Oslo has traditionally been cut off from the public. As the developer, Entra, in preparing for the erection of several new structures including the new University of Oslo Faculty of law, proposed to open the complex up and establish a new public space within, Void put forth a design that would invite the public in to explore the new area. Delta is an embedded light sculpture that flows through streets and alleys of the Tullinkvartalet development. It runs over a polished concrete waterfall in the heart of the block, which doubles as an amphitheatre.

 

Flexible, waterproofed LED strips run within a custom aluminium profile, procedurally designed by Void and manufactured by Pemat in Switzerland. The profiles are lined with diffusing acrylic glass. Each four centimetre segment is individually addressable in full colour, controlled from a central computer in the underground complex that is also connected to the twenty four 3D camera sensors lining the architecture. This allows for an interactive experience in which the visitor’s presence puts into motion waves of light through the river. In the waterfall, the assembly was built by hand to accommodate the double curvature of the surface.

 

Delta is an embedded light sculpture that flows through streets and alleys of the Tullinløkka development in Oslo, Norway.  Through new architecture, passages, public art, bars and cafes, and over an 80-tonne concrece waterfall amphitheatre, this river delta of light guides citizens and visitors through the complex. Sensors embedded in the architecture recognize walkers, making them propagate waves of light along the city floor.
