Tsuchiura Funeral Hall

The funeral hall built in Tsuchiura was designed to allow visitors to recall memories with the deceased. To the north and south, a "green axis" is formed along the mountain range containing Tsuchiura's familiar landscape, Mt. Tsukuba, and to the east and west, there is a "water space axis" connecting the Sakura and Kasumigaura rivers, along which a wide frame is placed. The "Green Axis" features a prominent wall and a bamboo bank from the entrance, welcoming mourners and leading them to a place where they part ways with the sleeping deceased. Three underwater gardens leading visitors from the entrance to the waiting room are arranged along the "water space axis". The water flows gently down the wall, and clouds and sunlight are reflected by the water, comforting the hearts of mourners who want to remember their loved ones.

츠지우라에 세워진 장례식장은 방문객이 고인과의 추억을 떠올릴 수 있도록 하기 위해 설계됐다. 남북으로는 츠치우라의 친숙한 풍경인 츠쿠바 산을 포함하고 있는 산맥을 따라 “녹색 축”을 형성하고, 동서로는 사쿠라 강과 카수미가우라 강을 연결하는 “수공간 축”이 있으며, 이를 따라 넓은 골조가 배치됐다. “녹색 축”에는 눈에 띄는 벽과 사사 대나무 둑이 입구부터 펼쳐져 있으며, 추모자들을 맞이하고 이곳에 잠들어 있는 고인과 헤어지는 곳으로 인도한다. 방문객을 입구에서 대기 홀로 인도하는 세 개의 수중 정원은 “수공간 축”을 따라 배치되어 있다. 물은 벽을 타고 부드럽게 흘러내리며, 구름과 햇빛은 물가에 반사되어 사랑하는 사람을 기억하고자 하는 추모자들의 마음을 위로한다.
