문산읍 주민자치센터는 지역사회의 중심에 자리 잡고 있어, 지리적인 이점과 지역공동체 사회에 활용될 가치가 높은 장점을 지닌다. 건축가는 인접한 읍사무소의 보건지소를 포함하여 마을경로회관, 마을문화회관 등 주민이용시설이 밀집한 어울마당으로써 주민들의 거점 공간을 계획했다.

 

기존의 대지는 일부 조경공간을 제외한 대부분의 공간이 주차와 차량 이동공간으로 점유되어 이동 동선이 혼재된 상황이었다. 건축가는 보행약자들의 편의성과 안전성을 확보하기 위해 보차분리를 통한 보행환경을 개선하고 외부공간을 효율적으로 사용될 수 있게 하였다. 새롭게 마련된 외부공간의 여백은 새로운 주민자치센터의 카페, 다목적홀 등과 연계되어 공동체활동의 외부공간의 가능성을 열었다. 문산읍 주민자치센터가 누구에게나 구분없이 열려, 서로 소통하고 어울리며 새로운 제안과 지원이 함께 이루어질 수 있는 주민자치의 장으로 거듭나기를 기대한다.

Munsan-eup Community Center is located in the center of the community, giving it a geographical advantage and a high value to the local community. The architects planned the community center as a gathering place for residents where facilities such as the village senior center and village cultural center, as well as the public health branch of the neighboring town office, are concentrated.

 

Except for some landscaped areas, the existing site was mostly occupied by parking and vehicle movement, resulting in mixed circulation. To ensure the convenience and safety of pedestrians with disabilities, the architects improved the pedestrian environment by separating pedestrian and vehicle circulation and enabling efficient use of the exterior space. The newly created outdoor space was linked to the cafe and multi-purpose hall of the new community center, opening up the possibility of an outdoor space for community activities. We hope that the Munsan-eup Community Center will be reborn as a place for community autonomy open to everyone, where people can communicate, socialize, make new suggestions and get support.
