A growing team of PUUR interior designers needed larger office space. A circular interior, excellent indoor climate, good acoustics and integration of lush greenery are some of the criteria that needed to be optimally integrated in the new office. We chose the "Arsenale"-concept as a reference to the exhibition grounds in Venice, where the Architecture and Art Biennale take place. The experience of wandering around an industrial building and being inspired by art and architectural installations is the atmosphere we wanted to recreate in our office.
Throughout the loft, all walls are finished with a rough cement stucco and the ceiling is treated with an acoustic spray plaster made from recycled newspaper scraps. The massive columns have been stripped back to their original raw concrete look and paired with a gravel-in-sight concrete floor, covering the whole surface. This enhances the perception of depth upon entering the office.
Within this industrial box, all other architectural elements are designed as objects and installations, maintaining an open and functional floor plan. The office plan is defined on one side by a transversal volume consisting of an untreated steel frame structure with glass, inspired by the iconic designs of Mies Van der Rohe, and containing three meeting rooms. A closed wooden box is placed on the opposite side to counterbalance the steel and glass structure. Made of European Larch wood, the partition is designed and developed as a system of fixed panels, doors and glass. It contains a collection of service functions and a large office with a glass wall facing the design studio. The design studio occupies a large open area. Two rows of long work tables double as exhibition tables, which we can use to display material mood boards. Lush greenery and potted plants give the office space a natural feel.
The lighting is reduced to the essentials. We work with spotlights and custom pendant lights made of uncoated aluminium. The organic form of the imposing statement ceiling pendant luminaire made of neon tubes refers to the slaughter line in the former function of the building. All decisions made throughout the design and construction process are supported by our vision of circular building and sustainability. Be it in the choice of one of the most sustainable woods, European Larch, or in the sizing of the meeting rooms, which is based on the standard size of the plasterboard, thus avoiding any waste. The possibility of dismantling the metal structure or the stacked concrete blocks, which can be easily deconstructed and reused elsewhere. Really by Kvadrat was chosen for the wall covering of the meeting rooms and the original old chairs were reupholstered.
The most striking symbol of circular design in our office is probably the extra-large dining table or "The Rotor Table", made from building beams recovered by the Brussels-based collective Rotor DC from demolition work. Furthermore, we invite all our building partners to participate in this future-proof vision by inviting them to co-design and urging them to think about solutions that combine design and longevity.
성장하는 PUUR 인테리어 디자인 사무실은 더 큰 사무실 공간이 필요했다. 원형 인테리어, 우수한 실내공간, 음향 및 푸른 녹지는 새 사무실에 최적으로 통합될 필요가 있는 몇 가지 기준이다. 건축 및 미술 비엔날레가 열리는 베니스의 전시장을 참고하여 "Arsenale" 개념을 선택했다. 산업 건물을 돌아 다니며 예술 및 건축 설치에서 영감을 얻은 경험은 사무실에서 재창조하고 싶었던 분위기다.
로프트 전체에 걸쳐 모든 벽은 거친 시멘트 치장 벽토로 마감되었으며 천장은 재활용된 신문 스크랩으로 만든 음향 스프레이 석고로 처리됐다. 거대한 기둥은 원래의 기존 콘크리트 모양으로 다시 벗겨지고 전체 표면을 덮는 자갈이 보이는 콘크리트 바닥과 짝을 이룬다. 이것은 사무실에 들어갈 때 깊이에 대한 인식을 높여준다.
이 산업 공간 내에서 모든 건축 요소들은 개방적이고 기능적인 평면을 유지하며 객체 및 설치물로 설계됐다. 사무실 계획은 Mies Van der Rohe의 아이코닉한 디자인에서 영감을 받은 처리되지 않은 강철 프레임 구조와 유리로 구성된 횡단 볼륨으로 정의되며 3개의 회의실이 있다. 강철과 유리 구조의 균형을 맞추기 위해 닫힌 나무 상자가 반대쪽에 놓여있다. 유럽산 낙엽송 목재로 만든 파티션은 고정 패널, 문 및 유리 시스템으로 설계 및 개발됐다. 서비스 기능 모음과 유리벽이 디자인 스튜디오를 향하고 있는 대형 사무실에 담겨있다. 디자인 스튜디오는 넓은 개방 공간을 차지한다. 두 줄의 긴 작업 테이블은 전시 테이블의 역할도 하며 소재 무드 보드를 표시하는 데 사용할 수 있다. 무성한 녹지와 화분이 사무실 공간에 내추럴한 느낌을 준다.
조명은 필수 요소로 축소된다. 코팅되지 않은 알루미늄으로 만든 스포트라이트 및 맞춤형 펜던트 조명이 달려있다. 네온관으로 만든 천장 펜던트 조명의 유기적 형태는 건물의 이전 기능에 있는 도축선을 나타낸다. 설계 및 건설 프로세스 전반에 걸쳐 이루어진 모든 결정은 순환 건물 및 지속 가능성에 대한 당사의 비전에 의해 뒷받침된다. 가장 지속 가능한 목재 중 하나인 European Larch를 선택하거나 석고보드의 표준 크기를 기반으로 하여 낭비를 방지하는 회의실 크기를 선택했다. 쉽게 분해하여 다른 곳에서 재사용할 수 있는 금속 구조물 또는 적층 콘크리트 블록을 사용했다. 실제로 Kvadrat가 회의실의 벽 덮개로 선택했으며 원래의 오래된 의자를 재사용했다.
사무실에서 가장 눈에 띄는 원형 디자인의 상징은 아마도 브뤼셀에 기반을 둔 Rotor DC가 철거 작업에서 회수한 건물 빔으로 만든 초대형 식탁 또는 "The Rotor Table"일 것입니다. 또한, 모든 건축 파트너들가 공동 설계에 참여하고 설계와 수명을 결합한 솔루션에 대해 생각할 것을 촉구함으로써 이 미래 보장형 비전에 참여하도록 했다.
