Company, Daily Bliss, Daily Walks (一行, 日幸, 日行) Turning Cube, which was built in Pangyo, is a detached house where a couple’s hobby and common spaces are appropriately mixed. The main feature of this place is that it was made to be true to its residential function while having various senses of space as several walls overlap.

During the design process, the architect thought long and hard about the different spatial portrayals of a commercial and residential spaces. Within the residential space of relaxing and living, various senses of space are contained. As for the shape of the building, the overall space is created with cubes, a uniform spatial unit planned for each residential program. These cube-shaped spaces created an open residential space while protecting the client couple’s privacy.

The spaces of the residential space are planned around the vertical courtyard in the center. As one cell is filled, another cell is emptied, and as this process is repeated several times, cubes with each personality and function harmonize with and substitute each other in its surrounding, and form a relationship between the interior and exterior. Horizontally, and serves as a central axis that can be seen from any space. In one cube, the car in the basement goes up the car lift to the space in front of the first floor living room and becomes the car exhibition hall. In another cube, a void that penetrates the entire interior with the appearance of reflecting the external courtyard is formed. As the personality of each program is strong, the landscape of the dramatic tension and scene are developed whenever a space is replaced.

Furniture in the kitchen functions with motion recognition, so the normally hidden kitchen furniture operate according to the user’s motion. Different lights are turned on during the day and at night, creating diverse kitchen atmospheres. Moreover, since a central cooling and air-conditioning system is also applied, cooling, intake and exhaust are all controlled without installing separate air conditioning equipment in each cube.

주거와 공간감 사이의 균형을 찾다, 터닝큐브

一行, 日幸, 日行 판교에 들어선 터닝큐브는 부부의 취미 공간과 공용 공간이 적절히 섞여있는 단독주택이다. 여러 개의 벽이 중첩되면서 다양한 공간감을 가지면서도, 주거 기능의 충실하도록 만들어진 것이 이곳의 가장 큰 특징이다.

건축가는 설계과정에서 상업 공간과 주거 공간이 가지는 다른 공간 연출에 대해 오랜 시간 고민했다. 휴식과 삶을 영위하는 주거공간에 다양한 공간감을 담아져 있다. 건축물의 형태는 각각의 주거 프로그램에 맞게 구획된 일정한 공간 단위, 큐브(Cube)가 전체적인 공간을 조성한다. 이러한 큐브 형태의 공간은 건축주인 부부의 사생활을 지키면서도 열린 주거공간을 만들어냈다.

주거공간의 중심에는 가운데 수직 중정을 중심으로 공간이 구획되어 있다. 하나의 셀(Cell)이 채워지면 다른 셀은 비우는 과정이 여러 번 반복되면서 그 주변을 각각의 성격과 기능을 담은 큐브들이 어우러지고 치환되어 내외부와의 관계를 맺게 된다. 집에서 중정은 수직과 수평으로 건물을 관통하며, 어느 공간에서도 바라볼 수 있는 중심축의 역할을 한다. 어느 큐브에서는 지하 1층에 있던 자동차가 카리프트를 타고 올라와 1층의 거실 앞 자동차 전시관이 되기도 한다. 또 다른 큐브에서는 외부 중정을 반사시킨 듯한 모습으로 내부 전체를 관통하는 보이드(Void)가 형성된다. 각각 프로그램들의 성격이 강한 만큼 공간이 치환될 때마다 극적인 긴장감과 장면의 풍경이 전개된다.

주방 가구는 모션인식으로 작용되는데, 평소에는 숨겨져 있던 가구가 사용자의 모션에 따라 작동된다. 낮과 밤에는 서로 다른 조명이 켜지면서 다양한 주방 분위기를 연출해낸다. 뿐만 아니라 중앙 냉방, 공조시스템도 적용되어 있어 각 큐브마다 별도의 공조설비 설치없이 냉방과 흡기, 배기를 컨트롤한다.
