Wutopia Lab was commissioned by Aranya to renovate part of club house into a restaurant for kids. By digesting the physical properties of materials, Wutopia Lab hope to create a place that loses material texture and spatial orientation. Using polycarbonate panels to wrap the original facade, a mixture of prairie villa style and contemporary art deco-style, creating a new translucent facade, and putted vertical greening and large staircases between the old and new façades. This hierarchical facade was regarded as a complete facade. Wutopia Lab re-organized function and streamline. Directly from the outdoor stairs, first stepping into the light forest on the second floor. Under the soft lighting of the light ceiling, the matte PVC pipe encloses a circular dining hall and two private dining room surrounded by polycarbonate panels.
Circular, diffuse lighting, white tones make you losing sense of texture, scale, and direction to this space. You can enter the ground floor under the starry skies along the grand staircase. Under the starry sky ceiling, Wutopia Lab created a playground for kids using PVC hollow balls, glass fiber cloth, marine plastic balls, artificial stone and floor glue. With a magic mirror as the border of the game space, Wutopia Lab tried to distort the realism of the place, as if time is not passing. The most important climax of the entire restaurant is the red flying house built on the roof with double perforated aluminum panels. Following the yellow trace, going through a stainless steel floor, bypassing the bubble tree, twisting toward the ridge, and you can see the light is getting brighter and brighter. This flying house could become an obvious sign of the park easily. The architectural practice of Wutopia Lab can use a rich imagination and exaggerated artistic techniques to perform “special performances” on daily life, turning everyday life into a “magic reality” and creating a daily miracle that can reveal the truth of real life. Wutopia Lab hope that design can turn reality into an illusion without losing its truth. The Aranya Kid’s Restaurant is the best example of this design philosophy.
폴리카보네이트 네버랜드
우토피아 랩은 아라냐(Aranya)로부터 클럽하우스 일부를 아이들을 위한 식당으로 개조해 달라는 의뢰를 받았다. 우토피아 랩은 재료의 물리적 특성을 소화해 재료의 질감과 공간적 지향성을 상실한 공간을 만들기를 바랐다. 기존의 정면을 감싸는 폴리카보네이트 패널을 사용하여 대초원 별장 스타일과 현대 아르데코 스타일을 혼합한 새로운 반투명 입면을 만들고, 기존 입면과 새로운 입면 사이에 수직 녹화와 대형 계단을 설치했다.
기능과 효율도 재조직됐다. 실외 계단에서 곧장 2층으로 들어가면, 천장의 부드러운 조명 아래 무광 PVC 파이프가 원형의 식당 홀과 폴리카보네이트 패널로 둘러싸인 두 개의 개별적 식당을 에워싼다. 동그랗고 분산된 조명과 흰 톤은 이 공간에서 질감, 규모, 방향을 잃도록 만든다. 큰 계단을 따라 걸으면 별이 총총한 하늘 아래 1층으로 들어갈 수 있는데, PVC 재질의 속이 빈 공, 유리 섬유 직물, 수중 플라스틱 공, 인공 바위, 바닥 접착제를 사용하여 만들어진 아이들을 위한 놀이터가 나온다. 마법의 거울을 놀이 공간의 경계로 삼아 마치 시간이 흐르지 않는 것처럼 현실성을 왜곡하고자 했다.
이 식당의 절정은 이중 천공 알루미늄 패널로 지어진 지붕 위의 붉은 비행 집이다. 노란 궤적을 따라, 스테인리스 스틸 바닥과 버블 트리를 지나 산등성이 쪽으로 돌면서 불빛이 점점 밝아지는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이 비행 집은 공원의 명백한 표지가 될 수 있다. 우토피아 랩의 건축은 풍부한 상상력과 과장된 예술 기법을 활용해 일상에‘ 특별한 공연’을 펼쳐, 일상을‘ 마법적 현실’로 바꾼다. 그리고 그것은 삶의 진실을 드러낼 수 있는 일상의 기적을 만들어낸다. 우토피아 랩은 디자인이 현실을 진실성을 잃지 않고 환상처럼 바꿀 수 있기를 희망한다. 아라냐 키즈 레스토랑은 이러한 디자인 철학이 반영된 가장 좋은 예다.
