WINDSOR BILINGUAL KINDERGARTEN

Windsor Bilingual Kindergarten is the sister school of the renown Dulwich College. It is currently the only kindergarten that introduces and thoroughly implements the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in China. The kindergarten locates in the CBD, within a quiet block of Unicenter Qianhai, Shenzhen. Due to the limited outdoor area, the design focus is to achieve the overall functional needs under the current conditions.

Children grow their keen awareness, expression and problem-solving ability by establishing contacts with, observing and playing games with things. So the designer’s target is to focus on the children and to create an inspirational space where they can get closer to the nature, walk, play, explore and build freely as they wish. The entrance hall is a very playful, energetic and exciting space and as the only pathway welcoming every child into the building.

A sandpit is created next to the windows, engaging the children to play in the sunlight. All kids are eager to play and grow up together. The design abandons excessive colors and cartoon patterns to inspire the kid’s interest, but rather carefully select and restrict its usage. The 3-6 years old children usually convert what they see into simple symbols and it is the way they explore and learn about the environment. Therefore, the house-shaped benches have been cut into the sides of the room to bring out the simplicity and vitality.

윈저 2개 국어 유치원

윈저(Windsor) 2개 국어 유치원은 덜위치대학(Dulwich College)의 자매 학교이다. 현재 중국에서 영국 EYFS(영유아기 기초 단계)를 도입하고 철저하게 시행하고 있는 유일한 유치원이다. 유치원은 선전(Shenzhen)에 있는 유니센터 치안 하이(Unicenter Qianhai)의 한적한 단지 안에 있는 CBD에 있다. 제한된 실외 공간 때문에 설계의 초점은 현재 조건에서 전반적인 기능적 요구를 달성하는 것이었다. 아이들은 사물과의 접촉, 관찰, 게임 등을 통해 섬세함, 표현력, 문제 해결 능력을 키운다. 그래서 아이들에게 초점을 맞추고 아이들이 자연에 더 가까이 다가가고 걷고 놀며 탐험하고 자유롭게 무언가를 지을 수 있는 영감을 불러일으키는 공간을 만드는 것이 디자이너의 목표였다.

입구 홀은 매우 재미있고 활기차며 흥미진진한 공간이다. 또한 모든 아이들이 건물 안으로 들어오는 것을 환영하는 유일한 통로이다. 창문 옆에 모래밭이 만들어져 있어 아이들이 햇빛을 받으며 놀 수 있다. 모든 아이들은 함께 놀고 자라기를 갈망한다. 디자인은 과도한 색상과 만화 패턴을 완전히 포기하기보다는 아이들의 흥미를 자극하기 위해 오히려 신중하게 선택하고 그 사용을 제한했다. 3살에서 6살까지의 아이들은 보통 자신이 보는 것을 단순한 기호로 바꾸는데 이것이 아이들이 환경에 대해 탐구하고 배우는 방법이다. 따라서 잘린 집 모양의 벤치로 소박함과 생기를 이끌어냈다.
