Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC) is a government agency with a mission to inspire creative thinking in the society and to propel the country’s creative economy. The main components are a design library, a material library, and a co-working space. Other components include a makerspace, exhibition spaces, and workshops. TCDC is now moved to its new place in the side and back wing of the Grand Postal Building.
The design of the space is intended for the new intervention to have a dialogue with the old building and at the same time to answer to TCDC’s mission to be the country’s creative incubator. A creative space is not ‘creative’ because of how it looks but it is a place that inspires. It is about creating a space where people can connect, discuss, and work together. It is a place surrounds us with inspiring resources and knowledge, with books and digital media, and rotating exhibition spreading throughout.
The resource center is not planned as traditional silence libraries. Instead, a large portion of space is designed to encourage conversations in a setting more like a cafe or a co-working space. Most of the spaces are flexible with movable furniture and adjustable systems to allow for flexible situation and various creative activities to happen. Exhibition nodes are integrated into all spaces - with shelving systems, wall systems, spaces along corridors, corner spaces, central spaces. Fresh ideas are always presented within reach and always surround us for inspiration.
태국 창조 디자인 센터
태국 창조 디자인 센터(TCDC)는 사회에서의 창조적인 사고를 고무하고 국가의 창조 경제를 추진하는 사명을 가진 정부 기관이다. 주요 구성요소는 디자인 도서관, 재료 도서관, 그리고 공동 사무 공간이다. 기타 공간들은 제작자 공간, 전시 공간 및 워크숍 등을 포함하고 있다. TCDC는 그랜드 우체국 건물(Grand Postal Building)의 측면과 후면으로 새롭게 이관되었다.
오래된 건물과 관계를 맺는 동시에 국가의 창조적 인큐베이터로서의 사명에 답하기 위해 공간의 설계를 새롭게 시도했다. 창의적 공간은 그 공간이 어떻게 생겼기 때문에‘ 창조적인 것’이 아니라 영감을 주는 곳이다. 그것은 사람들이 연결되고, 의논하고 함께 일할 수 있는 공간이다. TCDC는 영감을 주는 자원과 지식, 책과 디지털 미디어, 그리고 순환 전시 공간으로 우리를 둘러싸고 있다.
자원센터는 전통적인 조용한 도서관으로 계획되지 않았다. 대신 카페 혹은 공동 사무 공간과 같은 환경을 통해 대화를 장려한다. 대부분의 공간은 유연한 상황을 허용하고, 다양한 창조적 활동이 펼쳐질 수 있도록 이동 가능한 가구와 조정 가능한 시스템을 도입하여 융통성 있게 만들었다. 선반 시스템, 벽 시스템, 복도를 따라 위치한 공간, 코너 공간, 중앙 공간과 함께 전시 교점들은 모든 공간으로 통합된다. 새로운 아이디어들은 항상 손이 닿을 수 있는 곳에 있고, 영감을 주기 위해 우리 주위를 감싸고 있다.
