50 minutes north of the Portuguese capital, within the luxury tourist complex “West Cliffs Ocean and Golf Resort”, architect Raquel Solano - founder of Solano Soto Studio - has designed this exclusive single-family home in harmony with the incredible environment that They feature the ocean and golf course among the dunes.

The interior design, also commissioned by Solano Soto Studio, features pieces of art and furniture designed by them.

The house emerges from the sand like a silent castle, where the play of volumes appropriates the exterior prominence of the villa and merges with the landscape. Through an imposing entrance porch more than 6m high and a large oak door almost 3m high, you access this incredible villa organized on two levels + basement that is around 500m2 of construction.

The architectural design is of simple lines and the play of materials; warm and balanced. In her incessant search to merge interior and exterior in a subtle way, the architect uses different tools to achieve this goal; natural oak coatings both indoors and outdoors, the creation of an outdoor patio around the living room-kitchen-dining room, continuity in the floors, carpentry embedded in the floor,...

Oriented towards the Atlantic Ocean, the ground floor – where the most public spaces are located – is organized around an interior patio and the upper floor, more private, houses the rooms.

Upon entering the home, a double-height entrance space allows us to see the general organization of the interior spaces at a glance; living rooms, kitchen and dining room around an interior patio. The staircase, like a sculpture, surrounds and organizes the entrance space and expands towards the outside giving continuity to the whole.

The harmony of the interior spaces extends to the outside through the large three-meter-high windows, with the ocean as a backdrop.

On the upper floor, we find the bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. The rooms focus on the main frame that stars them, a large window with sea views. All rooms have a terrace that overlooks the golf course and the ocean, from where you can enjoy an incredible sunset. The main room has two private terraces and a solarium, protected from the predominant wind of the area.

Conceived as a holiday home, to accommodate both friends and family, the house has a large garage and basement with space for 4 cars, motorcycles, bicycles, buggies, etc.

Both the exterior and the interior are the scene of a careful selection of natural materials, which minimize the impact of the marine environment and allow humidity to be regulated.

Special importance was given to ventilation, due to the location. Thus, the busiest areas are equipped with cross ventilation (living rooms, dining room, kitchen, main bedroom, main bathroom), all bathrooms have natural ventilation and also forced ventilation throughout, essential to achieve maximum comfort in a coastal environment.

The home had to be flexible, allowing clients to adapt to the different needs that may arise over time. Therefore, the house has a guest area with a separate entrance, an office to receive external visitors, a gym, games room,... In addition, the basement has two complementary spaces of almost 200m2 next to the garage, designed to be able to expand. the use of the home in case you want to add a larger utility room, laundry room, games room, gym, cinema, etc.

The home, respectful of the surroundings and the environment, has an A+ energy rating.

In order to extend the limits of the plot, all landscaping focused on the insertion of native vegetation, especially that which arises between the dunes. In this way, a wild garden is created that has numerous coastal species placed in an organic and natural way.
