마드리드의 20세기 초반 주거지들은 일반적으로 가정의 레이아웃이 긴 것이 특징이며 그 결과 매우 긴 복도와 작은 내부 정원이 형성된다. 이 전통적 상징에 대한 우리의 제안은 일련의 공간을 통합하고, 가능한 한 복도와 복도를 최소화하며, 그것들을 프로그램된 방으로 변환하는 것을 포함한다. 이전에 주거의 배치는 현관 홀과 옷장, 침실과 분리된 주방으로 이어지는 복도, 마지막으로 외부 정면을 바라보는 주거의 나머지 부분과 분리된 거실로 구성되었다. 새로운 분포는 현관 홀, 주방, 거실과 같은 주요 프로그램을 통합하고, 그들 사이의 복도를 없애고 각 가정의 프로그램에 고유한 정체성을 부여한다.

집 안의 각 방에는 공간의 자격을 부여하고 구체적인 기능을 하도록 하는 물체가 자리 잡고 있다. 주거지 입구에 있는 주된 부분은 거대한 선반이 벽을 덮고 수평으로 접히면서 공간을 비추고 조건화하는 작은 방의 가천정이 특징이다. 이 공간 선반은 생 DM 합판 패널과 바닐라 색상의 적층체로 구성되어 있다. 이 거꾸로 된 L자형 구조는 붙박이장에 의해 지탱된다. 거실에서 바라본 옷장은 선반과 조립된 커다란 체리목재 큐브와 같은 기능을 한다. 검은색 패널로 시공된 주거지의 입구는 이 나무 조각의 맨 위에 있다. 이 속이 비어 있고 어두운 조각은 홀과 거실이 연결된 개방형 주방으로 전환하는 경첩 역할을 한다. 조리대의 위치와 주방을 분리하는 칸막이를 제거함으로써 복도를 요리를 더욱 즐겁게 하는 공간으로 활용할 수 있다.

프로젝트에 사용되는 모든 재료는 급진적인 이질성의 역할을 하며, 각 집안 프로그램이나 부분에 재료와 색상을 할당한다. 체리우드, 알루미늄, 대리석, 세라믹, 바닐라, 아이보리, 오프화이트 등이다. 목재 바닥재, 외부 목공, 일부 칸막이 벽, 가천정 등 건축 예산을 최대한 활용하기 위해 일부 요소를 유지한다. 반면 건물 재건축에 설치된 금속 구조물은 건물을 덮고 있는 가천정을 제거할 때 노출되어 거실 높이가 3미터 이상으로 증가하는 등 철거에 귀중한 다른 요소가 드러난다. 20세기 초반 주거지의 전형적인 코니스, 밑판, 석고 몰딩은 최근 대규모 재건 과정에서 나온 금속 들보 및 공동 작업용 넓은 공간과 함께 지속되고 공존한다.

The early 20th-century residences in Madrid are generally characterized by an elongated distribution of the domestic layout, resulting in very long corridors and small interior courtyards. Our proposal for this traditional typology involves consolidating a series of spaces, minimizing corridors and hallways wherever possible, and converting them into programmed rooms. Previously, the layout of the residence comprised an entrance hall and closet, a corridor leading to the bedrooms and the separate kitchen, and finally, a living room separated from the rest of the dwelling facing the exterior facade. The new distribution consolidates the main programs: entrance hall, kitchen, and living room; eliminating the hallway between them and giving each domestic program its own identity.

Each room in the house is occupied by an object that qualifies the space and makes it function specifically. The main piece at the entrance to the residence is characterized by an enormous shelf covering the wall and folding horizontally, resulting in a false ceiling of cells that illuminates and conditions the space. This spatial shelf is made of raw DM plywood panels with a vanilla-colored laminate. A built-in wardrobe supports this inverted L-shaped structure. The wardrobe, seen from the living room, functions as a large cherry wood cube assembled with the shelf. Atop this wooden piece is the entrance to the residence executed with black paneling. This hollow and dark piece serves as a hinge to transition to an open kitchen connected to the hall and living room. The countertop's position and the removal of the partition separating the kitchen allow the hallway to be used as an area that makes cooking more enjoyable.

All materials used in this project play with radical heterogeneity, assigning materials and colors to each domestic program or piece. Cherry wood, aluminum, marble, ceramic, vanilla, ivory, and off-whites. To optimize the construction budget, some elements are retained, such as the wooden flooring, exterior carpentry, some partition walls, and false ceilings... On the other hand, other elements are revealed in the demolitions as valuable, such as the metallic structure installed in the building's reconstruction, which is exposed upon removing the false ceiling covering it, increasing the living room's height to over three meters. Cornices, baseboards, and plaster moldings typical of an early 20th-century residence persist and coexist with metal beams and collaborating sheets from the latest major rehabilitation.
