As its name suggests, Sinam-ri is a rocky area of Unam. It was impressive to see the site adjoining the sea and the unique vertically sitting rocks. The goal of this project was to plan a private pool villa like a rock floating in the sea to ensure that the man-made architecture is connected with the natural rock landscape. Here, the users will have a very new experience.

Upright Pool Villa
Given the height restrictions and area restrictions, there were many restrictions on the areas that could be constructed. Conventionally, it is common to organize guest rooms by floor, yet it was difficult to secure the independence of the rooms due to area restrictions for GIRIGIRI. Hence, like a rock that rises vertically, a vertical pool villa was proposed by stacking a single program. The first floor is consisted of a kitchen and a swimming pool, the second floor is consisted of a bathroom, and the third floor is consisted of a room to secure their independence. The VIP room also has another swimming pool on the roof level, and hence, it has a unique configuration with two outdoor swimming pools on the ground and on the roof.

Between Walls
To build a vertically formed space, five vertically standing walls are placed facing the sea. The spaces of the program stacked vertically between the walls are captured. The spaces between the walls are the intermediate areas where the natural sea and architecture meet. The walls extend towards the sea to ensure the independence for the rooms.

Closedness and Openness
To secure privacy, all except the open space facing the sea form the closed side. To create an open space for the sea between the walls, the bathroom area on the second floor and the interior compartments of the rooms on the third floor were all made of glass to ensure the transparency and create the atmosphere of floating in the sea. In particular, the entire bathroom on the second floor is open towards the sea. The spaces stacked in layers do not have a physical device that divides the floor, and the open movement lines from the first floor to the third floor connect the interior spaces together.

신암리는 그 지명에서 알 수 있듯이 운암이 많은 지역이다. 바다와 바로 접해 있는 대지와 세로로 솟은 특이한 바위들이 즐비한 모습이 인상적이었다. 인간이 만든 건축이 자연이 만든 바위의 풍경과 연속될 수 있도록 마치 바다에 부유해 있는 바위 같은 프라이빗 풀빌라를 계획하는 것이 본 프로젝트의 목표였다. 이곳에서 이용자들은 새로운 경험을 하게 될 것이다.

직립형 풀빌라
높이 제한과 면적 제한으로 인해 건축을 구성할 수 있는 부분에 많은 제약이 있었다. 보통의 경우, 층별로 객실을 구성하는 것이 일반적이지만, 기리기리는 면적 제한으로 객실의 독립성을 확보하기 어려웠다. 그래서 세로로 솟아 있는 바위처럼 하나의 프로그램이 적층되어 수직적으로 구성된 직립형 풀빌라를 제안하였다. 1층은 주방과 수영장, 2층은 화장실 그리고 3층은 방으로 구성되어 각각의 독립성을 확보한다. 또한 VIP실은 지붕층에 또 하나의 수영장을 가지고 있어서 지상과 지붕에 2개의 외부 수영장을 가진 독특한 구성을 가진다.

벽과 벽 사이
세로로 구성된 공간을 구축하기 위해 5개의 세로로 서 있는 벽을 바다를 향해 놓았다. 벽과 벽 사이에 세로로 적층된 프로그램의 공간들을 담았다. 벽 사이의 공간들은 자연의 바다와 건축이 만나는 중간 영역인 것이다. 벽은 객실과 객실의 독립성을 보장하기 위하여 바다를 향해 확장된다.

닫힘과 열림
프라이버시를 확보하기 위해 바다를 향해 열린 공간을 제외하고는 모두 닫힌 면을 형성한다. 벽과 벽 사이의 바다로 열린 공간을 만들기 위하여 2층의 화장실 영역과 3층의 방의 내부 구획을 모두 유리로 구성하여 투명성을 확보함으로 마치 바다에 떠 있는 분위기를 연출하고자 하였다. 특히, 2층 욕실 전체가 바다를 향해 열려 있다. 층으로 적층된 공간들은 해당 층을 구획하는 물리적 장치가 없으며 1층에서 3층으로 이어진 열린 동선은 내부 공간을 하나로 연결한다.
