A Different Kind of High Rise Woho is a different kind of high rise, one with a diverse program and a social profile. In many ways, it is itself, a small city. A project where both social and environmental sustainability are of great importance.
The plot is situated in the German capitals central Kreuzberg district. Kreuzberg is unconventional and diverse, and our goal has been to reflect this in our proposal for the high-rise. Our concept is therefore intended as a vertical interpretation of a typical Kreuzberg block.

 

Vertical City Block It has been important for us to design a building that people can use, where the needs of residents, users and neighbours are the most important focus. By creating a diverse composition of building structures on the site, varying in height and width, the building adapts to the scale of the city, the neighbourhood and the people living there. The extended use of timber gives warmth and tactility, as well as a significantly reduced carbon footprint, when compared with more traditional building methods.

 

In between the building’s many volumes, small urban squares and lush green spaces arise, connecting the project to the surrounding parks and streets. An open and inviting ground floor plan invites the public to visit and use the area, creating an active city. An open staircase connecting the ground floor to the upper floors, supports the idea of an active and inviting building, intended for public use.

 

Multifunctionality The high rise is intended to house a wide range of activities and function. These include, residential functions comprising of a wide array of typologies and apartment sizes; social functions such as kindergartens, culture functions, neighbourhood restaurants and commercial functions such as offices, workshops, bakeries and cafes. The remaining programming is planned to be developed further in close cooperation with developers, authorities and the local community itself, in an active participation process, supporting the social profile of the overall concept.

크로이츠베어크의 도시구조를 수직으로 쌓아 올리다, 워호 베를린

 

워호 베를린은 다양한 프로그램과 다른 종류의 목조로 지어진 고층건물의 계획안이다. 여러모로 이는 작은 도시 그 자체이다. 사회적 및 환경적 지속가능성을 제시하며 독일의 수도인 크로이츠베르크 지역에 세워진다. 워호 베를린은 크로이츠베르크 블록의 수직적 표현의 일부다.

주민과 이용자, 이웃의 요구가 가장 중요한 곳, 사람들이 이용할 수 있는 것이 주요했다. 높이와 폭을 다양화하여 대지에 다양한 건물 구조를 만들어냄으로써 건물은 도시, 인근 지역, 거주민들의 규모에 맞게 조정된다. 목재의 사용이 확대되어 따뜻함과 촉각을 더할 수 있으며, 탄소 비중이 줄어들어 전통적인 건축 방식과 비교해 볼 때 탄소 배출량이 상당히 적다. 건물의 많은 볼륨 사이에 작은 도시 광장과 푸른 녹지 공간이 생겨나 프로젝트를 주변 공원과 거리로 연결한다. 개방적인 평면도는 대중들이 이 지역을 방문하고 이용할 수 있도록 초대하여 활동적인 도시를 만든다. 지상층과 위층을 연결하는 열린 계단은 공공 용도로 설계된 능동적이고 매력적인 건물의 아이디어를 뒷받침한다.

 

고층건물은 폭넓은 범위의 활동들과 기능을 포괄하도록 의도된다. 이들은 주거 기능들 포함한다. 여기에는 다양한 유형 및 아파트 크기로 구성된 주거 기능, 유치원과 같은 사회적 기능, 문화 기능, 근린 식당과 사무실, 작업장, 베이커리, 카페와 같은 상업적 기능 등이 포함된다. 나머지 프로그래밍은 개발자, 당국, 지역사회 자체와 긴밀히 협력하여 적극적인 참여 절차 속에서 개발될 예정이며, 전체적인 개념의 사회적 프로파일을 지원할 계획이다.
