Hoped it to be a building which could remind of the curves of wave and twinkling stars which are being reflected to the water on the corner plot overlooking Seojeongri stream. We imagined of an empty building like a drawing paper which could add a little bit of composure to the completed landscape of the city. The building which has imagined and planned in that way has completed as a white mass emphasizing its curved surface. As the plot goes up, it draws different curved lines and forms the terrace of each level and the curved forms are being emphasized by overlapping each other. The building which every side has well revealed, as 3 sides of it face with the road, changes based on the direction of looking at the building and has characteristic images by each side.

The building’s main entrance/exit couldn’t be approached from the piloti with backside parking lot but could be recognized from the front and we wanted them to have a bright image. The building’s main entrance/exit has designed on the front side which overlooks Seojeongri stream and has a side entrance which could access the building after parking. It considered the livelihood access circulation for strolling Seojeongri stream. The building’s main entrance/exit of the front side comes along together with the extended curved lines of the mass and has painted with blue so that the characteristic of entrance could be emphasized. We’d like to contain the image of “wave” and “light” picturesquely to the common space, which is the first thing we could face after the entrance. For the floor of the common space, the waves of sea have drawn with blue marble epoxy in white background. The pattern which flows with the stairs emphasizes the image of flowing water even more. A blue louver and glass blocks have added to the exterior of an elevator hall window and express the sparkling of starlight. These louver and glass blocks act as a masking wall hiding boiler room’s stovepipe and air conditioning grill which are planned on the side of the inner space and become an element which reveals characteristic image of the Maristella. Various overlapping axes of the 4th floor, where the building owner lives in, complete interior space more abundantly. A little courtyard located on the center of the living space is the first thing we could face after entering the entrance. By putting some flowerpots, the courtyard where sunlight directly comes in could be an extra space to the interior space. The living room has added with openness through the horizontal window overlooking southwest side with wide view and an open ceiling space. Every space from the living room to the dining room and kitchen spreads in one sight and the view gets extended to the loft space of the top part. Started from the courtyard space of the center, it’s connected with the main terrace which is connected with the living room, and the master room. The various big and small exterior spaces such as an eastside terrace which could be seen from the toilet and the library, and the rooftop space, which gets connected from the loft, have planned to link together with the interior space, in almost every space of the inside has made to face outdoors. The space of the loft, which is the tallest part of the building, has filled by the meeting of a form of an inclined roof, various axes, and the curved surface of the building.

바다별은 서정리 천을 바라보는 코너 필지에 물결의 곡선과 물 위에 비치는 별빛의 반짝거림을 연상시키는 평택에 세워진 다가구주택이다. 도시 풍경에 작은 여유를 더하는 듯한 건축물의 백색의 매스는 자유로운 곡면으로 처리되어 이러한 분위기를 한층 더 살려낸다. 층을 따라 올라갈수록 각기 다른 곡선들을 가진 평면은 각층마다 테라스를 형성하고 건축물의 전체적인 형태는 중첩된다. 세 면이 도로를 접하여 모든 면이 잘 드러나는 건물은 보는 방향에 따라 변하며 각각의 면에서 특징적인 이미지를 가진다.

전면에서 인지되는 밝은 이미지의 주 출입구는 서정리 천을 바라보는 방향에 있으며, 주차 후 건물로 접근할 수 있는 별도의 부출입구도 마련되어 있다. 이런 주 출입구의 계획은 서정리 천 산책이 동반되는 생활 속 동선이 고려된 것이다. 이 주 출입문을 따라 건축물 안으로 진입하면 계단실 매스의 곡선이 연장되며, 푸른색 물결 색으로 가득찬 공간이 주거인들을 반긴다. 공용부 ‘물결’과 ‘빛’에 이미지는 특히 회화적으로 표현되어 있는데, 공용부 바닥에 하얀 배경의 푸른색 마블 에폭시는 마치 바다의 물결같이 보인다. 계단을 따라 흐르는 패턴은 흐르는 물의 이미지를 더욱 강조한다. 각층 승강기 홀 창문 밖에는 푸른색의 루버와 유리 블럭 물결을 따라 반짝이는 빛을 보여주는 듯 하다. 이 루버와 유리 블록은 외부에서 안쪽 측면에 계획된 보일러실의 연통과 실외기 그릴을 가려주는 가림벽의 역할을 하며 바다별 다가구주택의 이미지가 특징적으로 드러나는 디테일한 요소다. 건축주가 거주하는 4층의 주거세대는 교차하는 여러 개의 축이 더 풍성한 공간으로 느껴지도록 만든다. 이 세대의 현관을 들어서면 중심에 위치한 작은 중정이 제일 먼저 보인다. 중정을 통해 햇살이 직접 들어오며, 실내 공간에 외부의 온도를 들이는 작은 틈같은 공간이다. 거실은 시야가 트인 남서측 면을 바라보는 긴 수평창과 오픈된 천장 공간으로 넓고 개방된 공간임을 느끼게 한다. 거실에서 식당 부엌으로 모든 공간이 한눈에 펼쳐지며 상부의 다락 공간까지 시선이 연장된다. 중심의 중정 공간을 시작으로 거실에서 연결되는 메인 테라스, 안방에서 연결되며 욕실 서재 등에서 바라다 보이는 동측 테라스 그리고 다락에서 연결되는 옥상 공간 등 크고 작은 다양한 외부 공간이 실내 공간과 맞물려 계획되어 실내의 거의 모든 공간에서 외부를 마주할 수 있다. 건물의 최상부인 다락은 경사지붕의 형태와 다양한 축 그리고 건물의 곡선 면이 만나 공간이 꽉 채워진다.
