A house is a haven where one wants to return to and rest, wherever they are, and it is a space that contains the lives and personal history of the family who live there. The site of TaeShin’s House, which was a landlocked land, was reborn with the patience and efforts of the client. Starting with a civil petition demanding road construction five years ago, a 6m city planning road was approved in three years, and the process of road construction, removal, architectural design and construction took place for more than two years. As the existing site was partially removed due to the road, it turned into a site with a crooked, narrow and long shape, and had a confined form that seemed as if new construction would be impossible at a glance. During the construction period, the neighbors called it the ‘worm house’ and were curious yet in doubt, saying ‘This can’t become a house, can it?’ TaeShin’s House has a long-shaped spatial plan, and the building is about 2m wide in areas where the site is narrow. Furthermore, it is a house that contains maximum efficiency and space within a building shape made along the form of the site. In this interesting and fun space built along the small land, the households on the left side of the stair hall are separated into layers and have a parallel structured space through the corridor. The right side of the stair hall were distributed into living-room-centric types of existing detached houses. The building directly faces the Children’s Grand Park and attracts the scenery of Achasan mountain in the distance. Since it is located on the highest ground in the surroundings, it was reborn as a unique and pleasant house that lives with nature as it attracts the changes of the four seasons through the windows or terraces, and it provides awareness as a landmark of the neighborhood as it was designed in a long form along the shape of the newly formed road.

집은 어디에 있든 되돌아가서 쉬고 싶은 안식처이자 그 속에서 살아가는 가족의 삶과 일생, 개인적 서사를 담아내는 공간이다. 도로로 제척되기 전 구옥에서는 크든 작든 그 공간들을 온기로, 물건들로 가득 채우며 살아낸 흔적이 있었고, 아련한 추억과 희망을 담아내던 가족의 공간이었다. 맹지였던 본 대지는 건축주의 인내와 노력으로 지금의 태신 하우스로 재탄생됐다. 5년 전, 도로개설 요청 민원을 시작으로 3년 만에 6m 도시계획도로 승낙을 받고 도로개설공사, 제척, 건축설계, 시공의 과정을 2년 넘게 진행했다. 기존의 대지가 도로로 일부 제척되면서 구불구불한 좁고 긴 형태의 대지로 변하면서, 얼핏 보기에는 신축이 불가능할 것 같은 협소한 형상이었다. 공사기간 동안 이웃 주민들은 ‘지렁이집’이라고 부르며 ‘설마, 집이 되겠어?’ 등의 얘기를 하며 궁금증과 함께 반신반의하기도 했다. 대지의 폭이 좁은 쪽은 2m 폭 남짓한 긴 형태의 공간계획으로 대지의 형상을 따라 건축물의 형태를 그대로 반영하여 최대한의 효율적으로 공간을 담아내고자 했다. 좁은 땅이 나름 흥미롭고 재밌는 공간이 될 것을 기대하며 계단을 중심으로 좌측 가구는 칸칸이 레이어를 구분하여 복도를 통한 병렬식 구조의 공간을 가지게 했고, 계단실의 오른쪽은 기존의 주택들이 가지는 거실중심형으로 공간배분을 했다. 건축물은 어린이대공원을 정면으로 바라보고 있으며, 멀리 아차산의 차경을 끌어들였다. 인근에서 가장 높은 지대에 위치하고 있어 사계절의 변화를 창문 또는 테라스로 끌어들이며 자연과 함께하는 독특하고 쾌적한 집으로 재탄생됐으며, 새로 생긴 도로의 형상에 따라 길게 계획되어 동네에서 랜드마크로서의 인지성을 준다.
