O1 is a house that is made up of several tightly overlapping walls. The land where O1 was located was a low mountain in the past. The site had trees that were not lush and a gentle slope to the south. The site is located on the highest lot in the complex, and as it is at the corner, it overlooked the beautiful nature and scenery. The land was long from north to south, and it was tapered to a point towards the north. It is a residential space that captures the wide landscape on the other side of the house, while at the same time protecting its residents from the road on the west side that collides with the site. The house is vertically zoned from the first basement floor to the third floor. When viewed from the road, the walls overlap and make it seem like a closed house, but like an unexpected twist, an open space appears in the interior. For this end, the space between the walls were made to be as transparent and bright as possible, allowing the light to unfold deep in the house, and the panoramic view is captured by pushing the wall back towards the east. Since the height of the site is 3.5m higher than the driveway to make the parking lot underground, the main entrance of the house had to be on the basement floor. To compensate for this shortcoming, a small sunken is met when entering through the front door, and the part facing the basement was made as a small, all-transparent buffer space, giving the impression of being open to the sky. The yard on the ground floor is protected from the exterior and open from the house, forming a cozy space for residents. The stairs located at the center of the building continues from the first basement floor to the third floor, and open between the walls to attract the scenery of the sky into the house. This staircase acts as a ‘light-duct’ that brightens every corner of the house. The main materials used for the exterior are granite (Goheung granite) and thin-plate ceramic tiles (wood pattern). Although natural stone and ceramic tiles are made of the same material, one has a dark and heavy color, while the other is bright and cheerful. The light wood-patterned tiles exposed between the thick natural stone walls attract and reflect light. The metal canopies, which resemble the column and light panels in the front, relieve the heavy feeling of the two exterior materials.

겹쳐진 벽 너머의 아늑한 주거공간, 오원

오원은 단단하게 겹친 여러 개의 벽으로 이루어진 집이다. 오원이 자리 잡은 땅은 예전에 나지막한 산이었다. 무성하지는 않은 수목들이 있었고, 남쪽으로 완만한 경사지였다. 이 획지의 위치는 이 단지에서 가장 높고 코너에 있어서 전면으로 수려한 자연과 경치가 펼쳐져 보였다. 땅은 남북으로 길었고, 북쪽으로 뾰족한 모양이었다. 대지와 충돌하는 서측의 도로로부터 거주자들을 보호하면서, 그와 동시에 반대쪽의 드넓은 경관을 집 안에 담아낸 거주 공간이다. 집은 지하 1층부터 3층까지 수직적으로 조닝되어 있으며, 도로에서 봤을 때 벽이 겹쳐 보이며 폐쇄적인 집처럼 보이지만, 내부에서는 개방된 반전의 공간이 나타난다. 이를 위해 벽과 벽의 사이를 최대한 투명하고 밝게 하여 집 안 깊이 빛이 전개되며, 벽을 동측으로 뒤로 밀어내면서 파노라믹한 경관을 그대로 담아낸다. 대지의 높이가 주차장을 지하에 만들기 위해 진입도로보다 3.5m 높기에 주택의 주 출입이 지하 1층이 될 수밖에 없는 단점을 보완하기 위해 대문을 열고 들어왔을 때 아담한 선큰을 만나며, 지하에 면한 부분은 작고 아담한 완충 공간으로 모두 투명하게 처리되어 하늘로 열려 있는 느낌을 준다. 지상의 마당은 바깥으로부터 보호되고 집으로부터는 열려 있어 거주자들을 위한 아늑한 공간이다. 주택의 중앙에 위치한 계단은 지하 1층부터 3층까지 연속되어 있으면서, 벽과 벽 사이마다 개방되어 하늘 풍경을 집으로 끌어들인다. 이러한 계단실을 통해 집을 구석구석 밝게 만드는 ‘광덕트’ 역할을 하는 것이다. 외장에 쓰인 주요 재료는 화강석(고흥석)과 박판 세라믹타일(목재무늬)이다. 자연석과 세라믹 타일은 같은 질료이지만 하나는 어둡고 묵직하게, 또 하나는 밝고 경쾌한 색을 낸다. 두꺼운 자연석의 벽 사이사이로 드러난 경쾌한 목재무늬의 타일들은 빛을 끌어들이고, 반사시키는 역할을 하게 된다. 전면의 원기둥과 광선반을 닮은 금속 캐노피는 두 개의 외장재의 무거운 느낌을 덜어낸다.
