The Korean New Town began from the Bundang and Ilsan has built the developed second New Town like the Pangyo and Dongtan after many trials and errors, and now it achieved the participation in the new town project in the Middle East. Especially for the case of the detached house block the absence of community facilities, which was the problem of the first New Town, was resolved by providing pedestrian streets and community areas in the Second New Town, increasing the potential of the life with neighbors.

The Yangsan and Mulgeum New Town in which the Funfun House belongs was supposed to be completed in 2000 as the first New Town, but, selling of the town was unfortunately finished in 2015 after many delays. While the sites of the detached houses in the second New Town are trying to test a community, the residents in the detached houses of the Yangsan New Town is ironically facing the situation that they dream their new houses at the simply parallel blocks in the first New Town.

The Funfun House is the project that the architects continuously asked questions like ‘How can I solve the community facilities absence problem of the urban planning as an architect by using the detached house?’ As the solution of the problem, architects arranged most programs the clients requested at the second floor and put the kitchen and the storage which do not require lots of privacies and can be shared with neighbors in the first floor, which enabled emptying about 165.29m² size land out of 198.35m² land. The emptied space that faces the adjacent land plays a role of the sharing garden and pedestrian street and makes the outer walls of the Funfun House to be eliminated.

The architects wanted this space to work as a community area where residents and neighbors can move toward the life together while it works as a playground for their kids at other times. The 30 percent of the land is filled with the house as of now, 2018. The Funfun House is still wishing that another houses will be built in the site. The architects hope that houses are not built for the closed privacy but built for the sharing life with their neighbor triggered by the intention of the Funfun House in this site.

펀펀하우스

분당, 일산을 기점으로 시작된 한국 신도시는 시행착오를 겪으면서 판교, 동탄 등의 한 단계 진화된 2기 신도시를 거쳐 이제 중동의 신도시 계획까지 참여하는 성과를 거두고 있다. 특히 단독주택 블록의 경우, 1기 신도시에서 문제시 된 커뮤니티 시설의 부재를 2기 신도시의 도시계획상 보행가로나 광장형 커뮤니티 공간을 제공하면서 이웃과 함께 하는 삶에 대한 가능성을 높이고 있다. 불행히도 펀펀하우스가 속한 양산 물금 신도시는 1기 신도시로 계획상 2000년 완공 예정이었으나 여러 차례 지연되다가 2015년 분양이 완료되었다.

2기 신도시의 단독주택 필지들이 커뮤니티에 대한 실험에 도전하고 있을 때 양산신도시 단독주택의 입주자들은 1기 신도시의 단순 병렬형 블럭에서 새로운 보금자리를 꿈꾸는 아이러니한 상황에 직면하고 있다. 펀펀하우스에서는‘건축가로서 도시계획상의 커뮤니티시설의 부재를 주택이란 건축물을 통해 어떻게 해결할까?’라는 질문을 끊임없이 던진 프로젝트이다. 이에 대한 해결책으로 건축주가 요구한 주거의 프로그램 중 대부분을 2층에 배치하고 1층에는 프라이버시의 요구가 적고 이웃과 함께 쓸 수 있는 주방과 창고만을 둠으로써 60평 대지에 50평 가까운 대지를 비워냈다.

비워진 공간은 이웃 대지와 면해 공유 마당과 보행가로의 역할을 할 수 있도록 하고 펀펀하우스의 외벽을 뚫어냈다. 평소에는 건축주의 아이들이 뛰어 노는 넓은 마당이지만 이웃집들이 들어서면 함께 하는 삶을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 커뮤니티의 장으로서 작동하길 바라면서 계획을 진행했다. 2018년 현재 약 30%정도의 필지가 주택으로 채워진 상태이다. 펀펀하우스는 여전히 이웃의 집들이 지어지길 기다리고 있다. 부디 폐쇄적인 프라이버시만을 위한 주거가 아니라 펀펀하우스의 의도가 촉매가 되어 공유의 삶이 확장될 수 있는 방향으로 이웃집들이 들어서길

기대한다.
