Window of Kaizhou

카이저우 창은 카이저우 신도시 스타트업 구역 내 위치한 지역의 중요한 공공 공간이자 전시 공간이다. 대지의 서측으로는 연꽃 연못, 동측으로는 언덕이 있다. 건축가는 건물의 내부를 관통하는 100m 길이의 보행용 다리를 계획하여 연꽃 연못과 언덕의 정상까지 연결하였다. 보행용 다리가 지나는 건물의 중앙에는 자연스럽게 커다란 개구부가 마련되어 외부를 향해 개방되었다. 이렇게 마련된 개구부와 보행용 다리는 건물과 자연을 감상할 수 있는 일종의 ‘창’이 되었다. 

서측 입면은 저녁 시간 태양의 노출을 피할 수 있도록 돌담으로 둘러쌓았다. 돌로 덮인 볼륨은 지그재그로 꺾인 계단을 통해 야외 테라스와 연결되며, 단순하면서도 강한 느낌으로 상승하는 윤곽이 전체 파사드와 지붕까지 이어진다. 카이저우 창을 방문한 사람들은 산책하고, 걷고, 오르고, 내다보며 신도시의 ‘미래를 향한 창’을 경험하게 된다. 이를 통해 사람과 건축물, 자연, 역사가 서로 얽혀 가장 생생한 도시 무대가 될 것이다.

The Window of Kaizhou is an important public and exhibition space located within the startup district of the Kaizhou New City. To the west of the site is a lotus pond, and to the east, a hill. The architect planned a 100-meter-long pedestrian bridge passing through the interior of the building, connecting the lotus pond to the top of the hill, resulting in a large opening in the center of the building through which the pedestrian bridge passes, opening toward the outside. This opening and the pedestrian bridge become a kind of “window” from which to view the building and nature.

 

The west facade is surrounded by a stone wall to avoid exposure to the evening sun. The stone-covered volume connects to an outdoor terrace through a zigzagging staircase, with its simple yet strong ascending outline continuing to the entire facade and roof. Visitors to Window of Kaizhou can experience the “window to the future” of the new city by walking, climbing, and overlooking. Through this, people, architecture, nature, and history will intertwine to become a most vivid urban stage.
