뤄후는 선전 도시 개발 역사의 단편을 보여주는 곳이다. 뤄후산이 있던 일대를 정리하여 선전 도시 개발을 위해 필요한 기차역, 도시센터 등을 세운 지역을 뤄후라고 부르며, 이 개발 시기를 ‘뤄후의 황금시대’라고 부른다. 2003년에 지어진 센터 건물은 새로운 유형에 맞춰서 새로운 전시 공간이 필요했다. 디자이너는 기존의 건물 스타일은 유지하되, 전시 공간에 맞는 새로운 스케일을 적용한 황금의 공간을 설계했다. 견고하지만 가벼운 대조적 이미지를 가진 입면은 사람들에게 긴장감을 준다. 내부는 금속 자재로 마감되었는데, 이 금속 자재들은 자연광을 받으면 다양한 윤곽을 드러낸다. 각각의 문 입구부터 걷는 과정은 방문객들에게 도시의 다양한 시간대를 통과하는 여정이며, 돌고 돌아 현재의 삶으로 이어지는 메시지를 준다.

Luohu represents a fragment of Shenzhen’s urban development history. The area where Mount Luohu once stood was cleared to build the train station, city center, and other facilities needed for Shenzhen’s urban development, and this period of development is known as the “Golden Age of Luohu”. The center’s building, built in 2003, needed a new exhibition space to accommodate the new typology. The designer designed a golden space that retained the existing building style but adopted a new scale suitable for the exhibition space. The facade, which is solid but light, creates a sense of tension. The interior is finished with metallic materials, which reveal different contours in natural light. The process of walking from the entrance of each door is a journey that takes visitors through the different time periods of the city, that turn full circle to lead them back to their current lives.
