건축가이자 인테리어 디자이너인 파로마 바우(Paloma Bau)가 이끄는 발렌시아 스튜디오는 릭터(Richter)의 카메라 옵스큐라에서 착안하여 마드리드에 있는 카르멘시타 필름 랩(Carmencita Film Lab)의 첫 번째 공간을 위한 혁신적인 프로젝트를 선보였다. 이 80㎡ 규모의 건물은 외부에서 들어오는 빛이 내부에서 합쳐지는 장치 역할을 한다. 이미지가 내부에 투영될 때 왜곡하는 카메라 옵스큐라와 마찬가지로 행사장으로 들어오는 것도 오목 렌즈를 통해 이루어진다. 대형 곡면 거울이 반사된 이미지를 왜곡시키며 독특한 시각적 경험을 제공며 생성된 공간의 입구 조리개이다. 내부 공간은 카르멘시타 필름 랩(Carmencita Film Lab)의 가장 상징적인 이미지 중 일부를 투사하는 직물 스킨으로 장식되어 있다.

 

이 개념은 현재 개발 과정의 산업화와 공존하며 새로운 시설을 위한 맞춤 디자인 가구에 반영된다. 가구의 부품들은 조립 라인 프로세스에서 영감을 얻어 서로 완벽하게 결합되며 디스플레이, 대기 공간, 보관 및 카운터 등 사용에 따른 다양한 옵션이 존대한다. 바닥에 있는 작은 통로를 이용해 갤러리가 있는 30㎡ 규모의 지하 공간으로 이동할 수 있으며 방문객을 카메라 옵스큐라로 안내한다. 따라서 스튜디오는 보관, 전시, 고객 서비스에 대한 브랜드의 기본 요구 사항을 충족할 뿐만 아니라 고객들에게 포괄적이고 몰입되는 경험하게 해줄 수 있는 공간을 만들었다. 인상적인 렌즈 너머에는 카르멘시타 필름 랩(Carmencita Film Lab)의 가치와 맞는 100% 아날로그 느낌을 그대로 즐길 수 있는 포토부스가 고객들을 기다리고 있다.

 

이 브랜드만의 특징은 장식이나 세트 장식을 피하는 것이다. 이와 관련하여 파로마 바우(Paloma Bau) 팀은 이로코 목재와 석재, 황마, 면직물, 네거티브 색상과 같은 원재료 및 천연 소재의 선택에 있어 차분하고 시대를 초월할 수 있는 미학을 추구하고 반영하였다. 이번 소재의 팔레트는 브랜드의 이전 공간에 적용되었던 것으로 보여진다. 또한 가구는 스튜디오에서 맞춰 디자인하고 리브렐 퍼니쳐(Lebrel Furniture)에서 제작했다. 마이크로 시멘트로 마감 처리되고, 래커 처리된 이로코 목재로 제작된 조각들은 서로 겹쳐지고 연결되어 필요에 따라 축을 이루었다. 가구는 산타앤콜(Santa & Cole)을 위한 미구엘 밀라(Miguel Milá)의 TMM 램프와 고전적인 디자인 요소로 보완하였다. 또한, 조명은 아르코슬라이트(Arkoslight)에서 제공되었으며 바닥에서 천장까지 매달려 있는 램프는 LED 튜브가 사용되었으며 파로마 바우(Paloma Bau)에서 디자인했다. 카르멘시타 필름 랩(Carmencita Film Lab)에서의 몰입형 경험을 마무리하기 위해 스튜디오에서는 사진작가 호르헤 페이로(Jorge Peiró)가 공간 사진 촬영을 아날로그 형식으로 진행한다. 브랜드의 개성을 포착하고 그 가치를 드러내는 제스처인 것이다.

Led by architect and interior designer Paloma Bau, the Valencian studio has materialized an innovative project inspired by Richter's camera obscura for Carmencita Film Lab's inaugural space in Madrid. This 80m2 establishment serves as an ancestral device where exterior light merges with a perimeter interior skin. Similar to a camera obscura distorting the image when projected inside, access to the venue is through a concave lens; an entrance aperture in the space, created by a large curved mirror that distorts the reflection and offers a unique visual experience. Inside, the space is adorned with a perimeter textile skin projecting some of Carmencita Film Lab's most iconic images.

 

This concept coexists with the industrialization of the current developing process, reflected in the custom-designed furniture for the new establishment. Furniture pieces draw inspiration from the assembly line process to seamlessly fit together, offering various usage options: displays, waiting areas, storage and counters. Through a small perforation in the floor, access is granted to a 30m2 basement housing a gallery of selected works, transporting visitors into a camera obscura. Thus, the studio has created a space that not only meets the brand's basic needs for storage, exhibition and customer service but also generates a comprehensive and immersive experience for users. Beyond the imposing access lens, a photobooth awaits users, inviting them to enjoy a 100% analog immersion, aligning perfectly with Carmencita Film Lab's values.

 

The brand identity eschews embellishments or set decorations. In this regard, Paloma Bau's team has pursued a sober and timeless aesthetic reflected in the choice of raw and natural materials such as iroko wood, stone, jute, cotton fabric and "negative" color. This material palette also reinterprets applications in the brand's previous spaces. Moreover, the furniture has been custom designed by the studio and executed by Lebrel Furniture. Pieces, made of lacquered iroko wood with microcement finish, overlap and connect to move and rotate through an axis according to the establishment's needs. The furniture is complemented by classic design pieces such as the TMM lamp by Miguel Milá for Santa & Cole and abundant greenery. Additionally, technical lighting has been provided by Arkoslight and suspended lamps distributed from floor to ceiling have been designed by Paloma Bau with LED tubes. To conclude this immersive experience in the Carmencita Film Lab universe, the studio opted to conduct a photo shoot of the space in analog format, by photographer Jorge Peiró. A gesture capturing the brand's idiosyncrasy and revealing its values.
