For an urban architectural space that is full of a breathless business and a busy life, we cannot exclude an efficiency and an economic feasibility. Such a condition may result in a situation that a quality of an environment is not considered with respect to welfare. But, IBK FINANCE TOWER tried to find out some methods else. Based on the spatial aspect of performing one’s duties, we made the building to have flexibility and expandability. As a result, the building has not stiffened and isolated, but openness.

This building has secured the accessibility by connecting the underground pedestrian passage from Euljiro 1(il)-ga Station to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station where many people are using with a sunken garden at basement. Also, entrance lobby that could be accessed from first basement and the first floor was designed with a shape of atrium with height of 14m, which makes it possible to accommodate various approaching patterns, visually connect the entrance to the bank lounge, and emphasis the fact that anyone can use the space as an open space.

A roof garden at the top floor was planned with symbolization of communication as part of an effort of fulfilling a social  responsibility of a company. One can directly access 27th floor from 1st floor by an observatory elevator, and the top floor and the roof garden provide citizens with various sceneries and resting spaces. People here can enjoy an urban skyline followed by the deep blue ridge of Namsan Mountain. By a literature review we verified an old path starting from Samil-daero to Myeongdong Catholic Cathedral, and we progressed a visualization work connecting with public open space in order to preserve it. Through the old path with existing moving path, citizens can feel the own memories of the city.

IBK FINANCE TOWER tried to provide citizens with an open space and improve a part of insufficiency in the city’s environment. Being with humanism the intention of the design was pursued constantly and clearly, and we tried to make the building’s elevations to have a constant identity via a thorough design process. Utilizing diverse details, we represented an implicative shape of the building concisely from various angles.
